    Re: Hillary's Baby Bonds

What a great ploy by Hillary. She can promise $5,000 to every kid, but if she were president she'd never have to be responsible for paying on the bonds. The bonds couldn't be cashed in until at least 10 years after she'd be out of office. I'm all for the government helping out those that want to go to college, but the aid should be based on financial need and academics. As someone who leans to the left, I'm a registered Democrat, but after the nominations of Gore and Kerry I'm beginning to become disillusioned with the party. If Hillary were to get nominated that would be the last straw and I'd officially switch to Independent.

    Re: Hillary's Baby Bonds

    This is great logic......

"I think it's a wonderful idea," said Rep. Stephanie Tubbs Jones, an Ohio Democrat who attended the event and has already endorsed Clinton. "Every child born in the United States today owes $27,000 on the national debt, why not let them come get $5,000 to grow until they're 18?"

Ok, Stephanie.....why do you suppose every child owes that much? Any ideas, Stephanie? How is giving away an additional $20,000,000,000 every year going to help them overcome the national debt that you are worried about?

Not as bad as Obama. That guy is a socialist with charisma. Ugh this election is going to be horrible. It is going to be Hillary vs Romney, and then the whole country loses.

Why do you think Romney will be the Republican nominee? He may be polling well in Iowa but is way behind both Giuliani and Thompson on a national basis.

I guess it is just what I see around here. Hopefully it will be Rudi, we need a moderate. All the main guys/gals are so far left or right it is scary. I guess as I get older I am becoming more and more moderate.

    Re: Hillary's Baby Bonds

Yeah that is what we really need. Someone that can come in and work with both the democrats and the republicans. So something can actually get done. Though it will probably always be though to do with congress or senate leaning one way or another.
It is amazing anything actually gets done. It seems everyone wants it their way with no room for much negotiations.
It will be hard for things to change but there really needs to be a president that is in the middle in order to start it.

Sounds like it's just an idea, and helping kids go to college is never really a bad idea.

Well that is refreshing news. The worst thing for this country would be another ultra conservative. We are going backwards not forward with the current group.

You are right in a way. I believe this is why we have student loan programs.

I cannot believe this idea is being floated around with actual support! We are moving closer to socialism everyday in this country and it is scaring the crap out of me. Soon there will be no reward at all for working hard in this country.

There needs to be wholesale changes in this country. I think the best way to start is to have everyone that is currently an elected official in Washington should be forced to step down and all new blood be allowed to come in.

    That wouldn't hurt my feelings.

I don't consider Bush to be ultra-conservative, heck I wouldn't even call him a conservative.
