Some people on the ledge on Iowa's Scout board

    Fire Ferentz
Hire Mac as D Coord (look at what HE's doing at USF)
Hire Leavitt-never mind why would he come to Iowa-it's harder to recruit here
    No talent
    Boycott the games
    Bench Jake
All the 4 star recruits that haven't panned out (Doerring, Larson etc)

    It's a melt down

Yea, I've been watching it escalate the past few weeks, and now it appears to be reaching critical mass. I need some popcorn for this movie.

Re: Some people on the ledge on Iowa's Scout board

God, would that be awesome if they hired McCarney as a DC under Captain Kirk...it would speed up their decent through mediocrity straight to below average!

Leavitt?...they are dreaming if they think they could get him as a HC...he will be off to something bigger and better if he wants to move.

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.

Re: Some people on the ledge on Iowa's Scout board

I don't know why Leavitt would even want to leave. He has a huge recruiting base and is in a BCS conference. Plus he has been there since USF started football. He built that program. Plus USF is the 9th biggest college in the country with 41,000 students. If he went to Iowa, his job would get much, much harder.

Oh, and he just won the biggest game in school history yesterday. Yeah, leavitt going to Iowa makes all kinds of sense.

Re: Some people on the ledge on Iowa's Scout board

Leavitt had 65,000 fans in the stands last night, most ever for one of their games. The only possibility of him coming up to EIU would be the $2.8 million, but as previously mentioned, the recruiting base down there is so vast, and the weather.....why in the world would he come up here to Iowa after building up a perrenial doormat? The guy has damn near earned a lifetime contract there, why would he come to the fishbowl in Iowa City?

FYI to y'all...Leavitt will have opportunities that are far superior to the gig in IC. Alabama was going to make a run at him if Saban turned them down the second time.

He didn't build it up from being a perennial doormat, he built it from SCRATCH.

Are they saying they should get out of the Big 10 because it's a lose/lose situation for them?

Maybe Iowa can put out a few more millions and hire Pete Carroll.

I'm not exactly sure why they are talking defensive coordinator. Their problem is offense.

Re: Some people on the ledge on Iowa's Scout board

The story on their boards sounds awful familiar to us from last year.
    Head coach has to go.
    Offensive Coordinator has to go.
    Defensive Coordintaor has to go.
Head coach is too loyal to his coordinators.
    Defense doesn't blitz enough.
    Offense can't block.
    Offense is too predictable.
Defense can't stop the spread offense.
    Injuries
    We're a young team.
    etc, etc, etc

Maybe we can let them use some of our threads from last year.

“This is an important win for us,” Indiana’s Tracy Porter said. “Iowa is a good program. It was great seeing their fans leave the game in the third quarter.”

Re: Some people on the ledge on Iowa's Scout board

Nevermind that Iowa couldn't get Levitt up here - or any big name coach for that matter - how in the hell do you justify paying a guy like Brian Kelly or Levitt the 3rd or 4th highest salary in the nation for doing NOTHING? Not a single NC under their belt. A few bowl games. It's bad enough comparing KF's resume with the rest of the top 10 coaches in the nation, but you put a Brian Kelly or Levitt in there, it would be an embarrassment.

Does anyone remember the last coaching search for Iowa? KF wasn't exactly the first choice. IF they fire KF, they are going to be looking for a guy like that. It's insane to even consider firing him. It's fun to watch the meltdown though :D

The guy is a good coach. The problem is the perceptions of the program and the expectations have far FAR exceeded the ability of the program to deliver. Iowa needs to re-set the expectations and realize they are in rebuilding mode. Next year may be as bad or worse than this year. This is a two or three year process. I have no doubt they'll be back to a decent program under KF in a couple years, but count yourselves lucky with 4 or 5 wins this year, and maybe a bowl game next year.
