    Cubs sign David DeJesus

Like Theo and Jed's first signing.. 2 year/$10 mil deal with a club option for 2014. Solid player. Down year last year (.240 avg) but had a career low BABIP so was a bit unlucky. Good on base guy and good defense. Should be an upgrade in right field.

Great defensive guy (should have won a Gold Glove or two), get's on base, will steal bases, hits for some power. I was kind of mad when the Royals traded him away but we needed pitching. He's a under the radar type of guy. Not flashy, but you can count on him getting the job done.

Not sure about this one. Colvin and LaHair are capable of playing OF. Why not give them a shot instead of spending 5 million DeJesus?

    I personally LOVE this part:

(there are rumors that this is a precursor to a Soriano trade, for what it’s worth)

Because Colvin sucks and LaHair is a 1st baseman?

QFT.. colvin probably gets shipped out in Theo or Jed compensation and LaHair is a Triple-A player.

No one in the history of Cubs baseball has consistently ****** me off more than Fonzy...my wife has to cover the kid's ears everytime the ball is hit to left field and he swings at 3 straight sliders out of the zone to strike out.

Serious question - why does anyone throw him anything other than an away slider?

    Re: Cubs sign David DeJesus

Watched him for years with the Royals and I like DeJesus. What position will he play for the Cubs? He's good offensively for a CF but sub-par defensively. The opposite is true at the corner spots. He usually hit in the .280-.305 range with the Royals, 10-15 HRs a year and quite a few doubles. Not a base stealer, but a good base runner.

The thing that I HATE most is that stupid hop he does before catching the ball. Then drops routine fly balls. I have to turn the channel when he comes to bat.

It just amazes me that people think that you can just plug a guy anywhere on the field. I'm not sure LeHair's bat can play at a MLB level but I'm positive his bat can't overcome just how brutal he'd be in the outfield.

Colvin has had plenty of opportunity and he's shown that he isn't a starter.

I think this is a Marlon Byrd type signing. He's a good, not great player who is an upgrade in the outfield at a reasonable price.

Agreed....I LOVED the Byrd signing and feel it turned out to be a GREAT move.

He produced on the field, but I get the feeling he is a great guy to have in the clubhouse as well.

And DeJesus is coming off an incredible year too! Certainly will be an upgrade for D which is something we desperately needed.
