How many of you came over here from Rivals?

Just curious.... I did. I remember someone (Jeremy?) posting on Rivals' confidential board right after he had just started up his own site. I thought it was CycloneFanatic. He took a bunch of grief from the old timers on that site. He seemed to have some decent insider stuff that he shared.

Re: How many of you came over here from Rivals?

I started on CF and then also opened a Rivals account to get access to the premium recruiting info. I have since shut down my Rivals account as CW has been doing a great job of reporting recruiting info around the same time that Paul has.

I'm sure there are other stories/threads that I am missing on Rivals, but not enough for me to pay the $10 a month any longer. Plus, we had a kid so I had to tighten the belt a little bit.

Re: How many of you came over here from Rivals?

paid for a CR account for a couple years then won another 6 months in a BB tourney pool. Figured why pay to get abused on their message board when I can get the same here for free.

and I'm all out of gum.

Re: How many of you came over here from Rivals?

If you're looking for set in stone info like commitments, Chris does just as well over here. If you want to read updates and stuff like that, then Rivals has a bunch more stuff. The message board is blah. Sometimes there will be stuff from the AD but mostly it's a bunch that used to be connected. There's just not that much inside info over there.

When I left the current version of Rivals.com, I think my membership badge was either 84 or 96 months as a paying subscriber. I was a member on the previous version of Rivals.com, which for Iowa State site was CycloneIllustrated.com and was run by Steve Waters.

I started there and was there until there were no free forums anymore. We laughed and laughed at you CFers... Now who's laughing?

That is not laughter, grasshopper. That is the sound of one of Paul Rhoads' hands clapping.

    It sounds like victory.

Re: How many of you came over here from Rivals?

I came over here after Jeremy posted the site on Rivals (sucks for Paul to advertise his competition); however, he was ready to charge everyone for their opinion and frankly, my opinion is only worth about 2.
<<<<<<< you can look here to see how long ago that was. Thanks Jeremy & C.W.!

I started up over here once Jeremy started the site. I came from Rivials when he was reporting on the MBB Coaching search back then.

Re: How many of you came over here from Rivals?

I came here from a post on rivals when it was still 'firewaynemorgan.com'

It was a big mistake of his to turn off the free board. Free members lead to a certain % becoming paid members (myself included for a time), and killing the free board allowed people to be more receptive to a new alternative like CF.

Re: How many of you came over here from Rivals?

Was Cyclonereport the Rivals site? That's where I came from. Terrible slow, and then on top of that, they wanted to start charging for everything. I just like to ocassionally get on and see what people have to say. I'm not nearly hardcore enough in stuff like recruiting to pay for the services.

I think CW does 10x the amount of work PC does at Rivals. I have both but I am a Cyclone Fanatic guy.

    This.
