    BCS Question

Alright this is very hypothetical but what if LSU loses to UGA for the SEC Championship. Alabama would be 1 and LSU in theory no.2. putting them in the National Championship. But this where I am lost a bit but wouldn't UGA get a BCS slot as well? Isn't there a rule that there can only be TWO teams from each conference in the BCS bowls? Can the SEC have THREE teams in BCS bowls? Just wanted to know if anyone knew the rules on this.

Georgia gets in (Sugar Bowl I think). LSU vs Bama in BCS title game. There is a clause that allows for 3 teams from one conference to make it in that scenario (No. 1 and 2 from same conference, neither as champ).

    Re: BCS Question

First, I think LSU would still be #1. I'm positive they would be in computers since they played a stronger schedule than Alabama and would have wins over Oregon and Alabama that Bama could not overcome. I think they'd still be #1 in voter polls too.

I think if two teams from one conference are in the BCS title game, a third can be in a BCS game. Your example shows this rule might exist for a conference champ like Georgia just as much as a #3 deserving team like Arkansas.

In your scenario Arkansas would be the 3rd BCS team from the SEC getting bumped, where if all the favorites win from here on they get in the BCS.

If I'm wrong somebody tell me.

    BCS Selection Procedures

    Arkansas would be out.
Georgia is in via SEC's auto bid for champion. LSU and Bama would be in as No. 1 and No. 2

Arkansas does not get the auto-bid for being in the top 4 without winning a conference because the SEC put "at-large" teams in the NC game.

If an at-large team from a conference with an annual automatic berth for its champion is ranked No. 3 (or No. 4) in the final BCS Standings, that team will become an automatic qualifier, provided that no at-large team from the same conference qualifies for the national championship game.

    Re: BCS Question

Anyone else think it is highly likely Okie St. would be #2 if they beat OK in a game that doesn't come down to the wire. OSU would be ahead of Alabama in the computer rankings and I would think the two teams would be very close in the polls. Of course the "experts" have already declared the match up for the national title game, but it seems very premature to me.

    Re: BCS Question

They can get 3 teams if 2 are in title game. LSU will be #1 no matter what unless they get killed in the title game and/or have injuries to QB, HB, etc. For sure will be SEC vs. SEC in title game unless Ok State puts on a show and destroys Oklahoma.
