Tips for cleaning a macbook pro.

Anyone know how to properly clean a macbook pro? I like to keep my things clean but I don't want to ruin my expensive computer that I will be having for more than 3 years. This isn't a thread to duel about Macs vs PC's so please just try to stay on topic. I know this will be hard for some of you, but try. Suggestions are welcome, I saw some people cleaning their computer with just straight water, but that seems dumb to me.

Maybe you could take it in the shower with you? Or power wash it?

First thing I though of was Seinfeld and the episode where Kramer won't leave the shower...if he can install a garbage disposal and talk on the phone, you surely can run your MacBook in there!

I use glass cleaner on my screen and that works well. Otherwise I use Q-Tips on my keyboard to clean in between the keys.

Isopropyl alcohol should do the trick for the keyboard and rest of the casing. I would stick to soft, damp cloth for the screen and dry it with another soft cloth.

    Either that or fire.

Put it on the stove and turn it on high.

They have the air in a can for computer cleaning. You can blast air under the keys and clear out anything under them.

Re: Tips for cleaning a macbook pro.

The air can thing for keyboard cleaning. Get the solution they sell in stores for cleaning the screen. It should come with a cloth included.

All in all no different techniques/chemicals needed. Clean it like u would any other computer.

You know he doesn't shower. He says he has a Mac, which qualifies him as a hippy

Do not use forced air (compressed) on the laptop. It tends to wedge things in place versus removing them. You can use a vacuum to remove dust and debris from the air vents and keyboard.

Here are Apple's recommendations for care and feeding of your laptop:

Do not use isopropyl alcohol on the keys! This stuff melts plastic. Just follow Apple's recommendations.
