Car Help: Ditch the Volvo for a Lexus?

My 2005 Volvo XC90 is in the shop for what seems to be like the 100th time. Rather than dumping $ into it for the next few years, I am debating getting rid of it for a Lexus RX350. Anyone have experience with the RX? Am I going to be dumping $ into it after a few years like I seem to be with the Volvo? The Volvo was CPO, so it didn't cost me the previous times it was in the shop. Thinking a CPO this time as well.

If I had your money I would get an Audi.

I have had several volvos, a Lexus, an Infiniti, the best car I have owned is the 2010 Subaru outback! Great car, safe, useful... And I have no issues whatsoever pulling into snobby meetings as with it.

As far as depth goes though, the combination of White, Woodbury, Olaseni, Basabe, and Uthoff is much better than Niang, Ejim, Edozie, Gibson. Not because of the top 2, but because of the next 2 or 3. -DeanVogs

The RX does seem to somewhat regularly appear on the various iterations of the top pre-owned vehicles lists. You certainly won't have any trouble finding one on the road, or on a lot. My dad has gone through a lot of the different RX versions over the year and has never had any issues (regular maintenance and oil changes notwithstanding). The longest he's ever kept one for is three years, however.

Keep the Volvo... get a moped as a backup and dump the remaining money into ISU athletics... win win for everyone!

Extra funds are directed to ISU and kid's 529, and when I asked my folks about getting my 1985 Honda Express out of their garage for my 3 mile commute around the DeMo they balked and said it wouldn't work. Nothing like parents looking after a 33 yo.

And I realize I'm a yuppie DB. Thanks.

The RX350 is a reliable crossover. I wouldn't be scared of the reliability of an RX350, Acura MDX, or Toyota Highlander in that segment. I'd stay away from the hybrid version of the Highland and RX if it was me.

Can you drive an RX if you have male genitalia?

Glad you started this thread because I have a similar question: should I trade my Ferrari for a Lamborghini? I'm having a tough time deciding.

Only if you don't care what other people think and don't have short man syndrome.

I do not want to get the wife prego right now should I use Trojan or Durex, so many decisions.

Doesn't matter. Most men in the country handed in their automobile man cards when they bought their first automatic transmission auto. The good news is that the automobile man card is really more like a Boy Scout merit badge. Plenty of other merit badges out there that guys can use to enhance their male status although without some other "merits" earned you run the risk of being the Unmanly Guy on the next Miller Lite commercial.

The Toyota Highlander is made in the U.S.

When you say "American made car" I assume you mean assembled?
