I thought he enrolled in a prep school, so he would be a member of the 2012 class.

Did Elgin Cook or Hoiberg tell you that? Seriously, all the OP asked was how he's doing. His Yahoo Rivals page hasn't been updated recently, so I guess that means nobody (including you) really knows what his status with ISU is.

    Re: Elgin Cook

Trent lead by former NBA Player Rafer "SKIP to my LOU" Alston, is no slouch. Trent features IVAN RANGEL, who played last yeat at Prestonwood Christian. IVAN at 6'10, 240lbs is a beast underneath. Every shot deflected, every shot altered. Trent also features ELGIN COOK, who you remember as the Milwaukee's Basketball Player of the YEAR who was signed to ISU, but left Hamilton Mi...dseason due to security issues. Well ISU's loss will surely be Seton Hall's gain. Sign this kid now!!! This kid can play!

The best game of the night was next, as the fans were packed in like sardines; The Robinson School of Irvington, New Jersey took on Trent Prep 2, of Houston, Texas. It was a battle, like Sam Houston leading his Texas Troops to victory, Raford Alston marched his team up and down the court and shot basket for basket with Vince Robinson’s home team. It was a dunk fest, as feet we...re flying everywhere, and the fans were going crazy! It was all out taking no prisoners war, as the battle began early as 6’9 Ramon Johnson came to play. Signing with North Carolina Central earlier in the week, Ramon was a monster tonight on the boards with 14 rebounds, assisting Jhamir White, and Dawan Lighty who again shot well for a combine 34 points. White and Lighty can play, they don’t back down, and seem to excel when competition is in the gym. Game after game they deliver outstanding performances, but the team over all has to get tougher, as Trent is tough, and contests every shot, and go for every rebound. The Robinson School and Trent battled shot for shot, with no clear leader in sight. Trent’s Elgin Cook again was unstoppable, with 26 points. Did someone say Memphis, as this kids reminds you of Derrick Rose, but Calipari’s at Kentucky now, he best take a look at this kid, because if Rafer ever gives him a green light this kid can put up 50 a game without sweating. Now, let’s not forget PJ Hartwick who hit for 19. PJ can play the point, and also shoot the shot. I think the Miami native needs to play for Miami, and heat the Big East up with his talent. Trent played like it was a war. Trent, was again a spoiler having a small lead of 5 with time running out in regulation, but Robinson school would not lay down and die, and with an unbelievable hustle in the last 30 seconds, stole the game, and was up by 3 with 3.5 seconds to go on the clock. But, Trent Bang Bang 3 pointer at end of the regulation put the game into OT. The Robinson School Home Crowd thought it was over, but no one fouled Trent’s shooter, and OT Baby! Trent then took over in OT driving in some easy layups, and it was over Trent 83, Robinson 75.

Rafer Alston’s Trent Prep 2 team was the sleeper as no one in the North East had seen them play before, and with two killer players Elgin Cook, and Shaquille Hines they contest every game. However, if they want to be great, they have to get Ivan Rangel in the game the almost 7 foot giant, appears to be sleep at the wheel. This kid is big and strong, but I did not notice one play dedicated to him in over 3 games, if this kid can develop a little hook shot, or get a little passion in his hop, and slam from two feet every layup, Trent would be unstoppable, and the Ivan will be playing for Texas. We look forward to seeing them for three games in the Planet Athlete – MLK, I Have A Dream Showcase January 14-16, 2012 at Franklin High School.
