    Royce

went to the game last night and was curious as to why royce was bringing the ball up the court alot? i believe there was one or two times where he turned it over. i have a feeling in big 12 play if this happens, isu will get ate up. just my views from the game last night.

    Re: Royce

Our PG sucks at doing it. I'd like to see Allen do it, but if White is our best handler then we really don't have much of a choice than to let him do it..

    Re: Royce

if that is the case, then i would agree. i would have to think that allen, babb, or mcgee would be a much better option. i loved mcgee, seemed like a spark plug and has a great shot. alot of the times when royce would bring it up, he would hang around the top of the key also. think he just needs to get down the court and establish position. he seemed dominate down there

Yes the 8 turnovers by Iowa State last were horrendous, especially in light of the measely 22 assists we had

    Re: Royce

Mcgee's ball handling skills have impressed me, but personally, like we saw the first few games with Scotty, if McGee is our PG, his 3-point shots probably occur less.

Either way, in my opinion, our PG play won't affect our Big 12 play. Our defense will. We can score just fine, its our "the next guy can guard him" defensive philosophy that screws us over. We were running a little 2-3 zone yesterday and Scotty was only guarding 1/3 of the outer perimeter, meaning Babb had to cover 2/3 of the outer perimeter leaving open shots for Northern Colorado.

Don't think so...crazy considering how much time Percy Gibson saw.

I did notice Sledge take himself out of warm ups the final 5-10 minutes though and just watched the team shoot and drank water. Clyburn looked to have asked if everything was alright and Sledge seemed to have shrugged it off. He's not going to play until he proves himself and he can't do that if he isn't a team player. For the record, I have high expectations for Sledge and hope to see him playing much more over the season, but he doesn't deserve to unless he can be with the team during warmups.

Had a feeling he wouldn't with it being so close, but I did see a tweet about Percy playing first half so thought I'd make sure.

Honestly Sledge is probably the best PG currently on the roster(eligible to play right now)... talent wise.. he just mentally isn't there yet.

Pressures the ball, stays in front of his man, has a serviceable jumper, and finds the open man. He has his downside, but any PG on this team doesn't have to be great... just steady.

He certainly was steady. At least last night, he looked like a guy who can get the job done.

Punctuation aside, I agree with this sentiment. Having Royce bring the ball up the court means he is expending extra energy and not establishing any inside position. Like with Scotty at the point, it is likely to detract from what he is good at and what the team needs him to do, namely to score, rebound, and play defense in the paint.
