Re: The Breakdown: Iowa State @ Oklahoma

No mention of the unique goal-line offense with a big fullback and big backup quarterback (the Bell-doozer) who keeps the ball. In his 4 TDs against Baylor, they only hit him once, IIRC.

I wonder why teams don't rely on this play more, like we did with Woody against OSU and Kansas.

The game will come down to the gameplan and execution. Increasingly, I think victories are related to gameplans. And there is no guarantee that it will work. We had a great gameplan for Baylor, but they had a great counter attack. OSU stayed with their gameplan, but ours was better. We have been rattling QBs lately and that will be very key against Oklahoma.

    This couldn't wait until tomorrow?

That's an interesting write-upon Barnett. The pressure of OU's home field will be huge, but we've won at Nebraska with Tiller, Texas with Arnaud, UConn with Jantz, so I think that Herman and friends can have another QB ready to win at Oklahoma. This staff seems to have that ability.

I was just looking at the B12's conference-only stats.

2011 Conference Only Football Statistics - Big 12 Conference - Official Athletic Site

Amazing in how many categories OU and OSU are lockstep in the standings. I hope we can avoid a letdown!

Re: The Breakdown: Iowa State @ Oklahoma

IMO the biggest factor in this game is emotion. OU is coming off a loss that knocks them out of NC game contention and it was their first to Baylor ever. ISU is coming off of the biggest win in school history. Look at the OU-Texas Tech game. The following week OU beats the current #11 KSU 58-17 on the road and Texas Tech losses to ISU 41-7 at home. ISU was riding a four game lossing streak at the time. OU is home in front of their fans and will be extremely motivated to beat the cyclones. We could easily have a "hangover" game. This doesn't look good for the Clones.

I think emotion will be there. The game will be decided by how our gameplan and execution matches up to them.

Couple questions after watching the video...

    1) was CPR going to be up for any other coaching positions (Head). I would think not since it was a late hiring for ISU, if I remember correctly...

    2) Do you think someone had to "plant the idea" in JP ear about CPR...

    3) I guess the main point/question is... how did it take CPR so long to get a head coaching shot...

He was driving to Clemson to interview for their DC position, if I remember correctly.
