    Student Trips to Bowl Games?

Are there any charter buses or things like that, that students can take to bowl games (depending on the location)?

Or, if a student wants to go, is it his/her responsibility to get there?

    Thanks.

For the Insight I'm pretty sure it was on your own, but don't let that deter you tons of carpools etc. and all the students at the Insight Bowl had a blast.

Get a group of friends together and rotate drivers.

That's definitely what will happen should we get invited to a bowl within somewhat reasonable driving distance (Dallas, etc.).

Seems like the Alumni Association always has some trip package but you'll find it much cheaper and more fun if you and a group of friends make the plans yourselves. I've driven to Phoenix, Shreveport, and Houston for bowl games and have a ton of fun memories from those trips. Not sure I would drive the Phoenix trip again though, 28 hours 1 way!

Trips that are put together are usually geared for adults...meaning they aren't done as cheap as possible. You will have much more fun grabbing 4-6 people and taking a Van to the bowl. We drove from KC last year..could have flown, but if so not everyone in our group would have went. had a blast

If we do end up 6-6 (not saying that we will, but IF)... Fingers crossed for the TicketCity Bowl in Dallas. Most drivable game at only about a 12 hour trip (perfect for 3 drivers to handle each way). Plus it's a Big Ten matchup so you gotta feel good about it. Here's to hoping we end up there against a team that beat Iowa. If Penn State is such a hot potato at that point they may fall that far in the bowl pecking order.

This is exactly the bowl game I'm hoping for as well. 12 hours is very doable.

Nobody could offer a charter for what students would be willing to pay.

Re: Student Trips to Bowl Games?

Finding trips on your own with friends is the best way. Insight bowl 5 friends packed in an SUV drove 24 hours one way and for the whole trip I only spent 250 dollars not bad at all!

Re: Student Trips to Bowl Games?

Do it on your own. Our trip to Tempe cost maybe $300 bucks/person.

    $100 - gas
    $100 - 3 hotel nights
    $100 - food, beer, tickets

As a college student, any bowl location is drivable. Except the Hawaii bowl. It's not like you have anything else to do over break.

Oh come on...you're a student, what are you doing during break? ANY distance is reasonable driving distance for an ISU Bowl Game!

If you're in college anything is 'reasonable'. Ive done san diego to des moines in 2 days before, houston to des moines in 1, etc, with just me and one other driver, much less if you can get 4-5 drivers together.

Anything under 12-15 hours, do it in one long shot. Anything more, pile into a cheap motel overnight and do 2 days.

Re: Student Trips to Bowl Games?

Any body have any other general tips for first time bowl travelers? Obviously we don't know the location, but any advice is appreciated!
