This is how important CPR is to this program and university

Just think about how much he's changed the mentality of these teams and this fanbase. Be honest and imagine this game four years ago. Even after the point that Benton got that pick in the second OT, how many of us would have thought "How are we going to screw this up now?" This year, with this team and this staff, that thought didn't even cross my mind. Going into overtime, I was confident this team would win. As soon as we got the pick, I knew this team was going to win. It's obvious this team has bought into what this staff is selling them, but it's remarkable how much they've been able to change the fan's perception as well, because I know I'm not the only one that felt this same way. And with Friday's win, I know this team now has the confidence that they can hang with anyone.

I agree but only after Woody got the 6 points. That being said, I was proud to be a cyclone win or lose on Friday. I honestly didn't think we'd pull it off and unlike most games I was totally at peace with it.

Sadly, 5 years ago, even to that point I probably would have thought we were either going to either fumble it, throw a pick 6, or get stopped three times and have our field goal attempt blocked or shanked.

So you don't agree at all then. I find this so sad. Heck, with these close games that, on paper, we have no business being in, CPR has won more games than not.

I'm with the OP. I felt like we were going to win this game once things started going our way. (24-14).

I think it goes back to the nebraska game last year. In ot, he could have kicked the extra point and went to another ot.....but he went for the kill. It didn't work out, but he was building a winning mentality.

    All in, to win!!!

Yeah, I still couldn't completely stop the thoughts of "something might go wrong" until he crossed the goal line.

But the difference this time was, some of the ongoing worries were quickly squelched.

    1. Got the ball first in OT .... The worry: won't score, and OSU will take advantage. The squelcher: Scored on the first play

    2. OSU tied it. Worry: They'll score quickly in 2nd OT and the pressure will be on ... and either means going for 2 or having to survive a 3rd OT. Squelcher: Immediate INT.

    3. Stopped out OSU in 2nd OT ... The worry: ISU will play it safe for the FG, then miss it. Squelcher: Two plays that got it down inside the five -- not only did it avoid squandering 3 plays and playing for the kick, looked like the offense simply wasn't going to be denied.

In the second OT our offensive line punished OSU. We blew them up, like nothing I've seen in thirty plus years of being a Clone. That starts with attitude.

4 years ago it would have been 58 14 score, with nobody even close to stopping Weeden and Blackmon. We likely would have had at least 5 delay of game penalties. If you dont think so check the OSU score 4 years ago it was UGLY.

I think the whole student section knew we were going to win after the INT. After we got done going crazy, everyone started moving down the stands to get ready to storm the field.

Re: This is how important CPR is to this program and university

I completely agree. We were in the upper deck and as soon as Benton made the pick we went to the lower deck to storm the field because we just knew we were going to win. In past years I would have been skeptical and wanted to avoid jinxing it.

I think this exact same feeling happened to the team. As the game went on, they smelled the upset and the excitement grew on the sidelines and in the stands as they smelled blood in the water.

I give credit to the O line. But by the looks of things, OSUs D was resigned.

Nothing to see here mods. Keep moving.
