    Sorry Earle....

I have always thought of you as the best ISU coach of all time. You took a No. 1 Oklahoma team to the wire in the first half but couldn't hang on. You beat ranked Nebraska teams back to back. You were a close first over Johnny who put us on the map in the early '70s.

But after Friday night, CPR has taken over my vote as our best football coach of all time. He accomplished what no other ISU team has ever done, and that's win the big one.

I don't think we have turned the corner just yet (only 6-4). Next year...

Ala the DSM register articles on the evil empire, you have to have that first big signature win to turn the corner. I really think CPR has turned the tide.

A bit early for this. Rhoads has been phenomenal. He's won games he should not have. But he's also lost a couple that he should have won.
After a couple of 9 win seasons, I'd say Rhoads is the best coach in ISU history.

One more win, over either OU or KSU, would really help validate the OSU win. 7 wins should get us a decent bowl, plus more practices = more momentum for 2012.

    Re: Sorry Earle....

Earle stuck together back-to-back wins against nebraska, won at Iowa City 31-0, went 24-11 over his last 3 regular seasons and was a single win from the Big 8 title and the Orange Bowl in 1977. CPR is definitely on the right trajectory.
