    Favorite ISU Team?

Even before last Friday this team has been my favorite. In the past I have really liked certain individuals but on this team they all stick out. Is there a more likeable team?

I think that stems from Rhoads getting his guys in here. But also from Jared barnett. He's a great guy and a great young leader. He took the team on his back last game and threw 58 times!

I was still floored when I looked at the stats and saw he had thrown 58 passes. I realize he threw quite a bit, but Fifty-Eight! It isn't as if ISU run it very little, and OT added only one pass attempt to the total.

    Re: Favorite ISU Team?

I'll always have an affinity for the 05 squad. Lots of good local players on that roster: Meyer, Blythe, Barkema, Moser, Blankenship, Moses, Culbertson (shaggy!), Scales, etc. Stevie Hicks was fun to watch. We had a decent receiving corps with Blyth, Sumrall, etc. Seeing Austin Flynn change positions was cool.

There were some memorable wins that season, too. I'll never forget beating Iowa that year. It was sweltering hot at JTS and the crowd was just livid, and we kept Iowa out of the end zone the whole game. I took my sister and it was her first football game, and we got to rush the field afterwards. The CU game was just as memorable. 3 of our 4 losses came in overtimes on the road. We played it close in the bowl game. Looking back, man it was nice being able to put away OSU and K-State handily. The only game I missed was the Baylor game...and I'm glad I did.

Now that I think about it, there are a lot of similarities between that season and this one...

    It is similar.

Something I was thinking before OSU win, and even more now, this season reminds me of '04. We'll see how final two games go, but something about the season flow early wins, bad losses, seemingly headed for a 4-win season, then woah!

Yeah, Bowen was a stud in 05.

It was also the year of Jason "$4 and a cellphone" Berryman. Ugh.

Also, Jamarr Buchanan had a pretty good year. He lived a few doors down from me in Larch Hall in 2002, and was one of the nicest guys ever.

Berryman was in my philosophy class that fall. Plato's Republic was the text. I think he may have taken home the wrong message from Glaucon's story about Gyges.

    Hahaha!

Different sport, but Jackson Vroman was in a class next-door to mine in Ross Hall one semester, back when he had long hair. I could always see him through the glass window in the door separating the two rooms, sitting in the back row. I may have seen him awake two or three times all year.

He and Tim Barnes (remember that character?) also lived on my floor, and I can affirm that there was very little studying going on. That summer, Vroman was cited for marijuana possession when he was pulled over in a car driven by one of my high-school classmates in my hometown.

These are the memories from college I treasure.

Lane Danielson was there for 2002, I know that. I can't remember if he was around for 2003...that season is one I try to forget. I know he was gone by 04, though.

    Re: Favorite ISU Team?

Alvin bowen wasn't a big factor on 05 (if he was even on the team??) He was a stud in 07.

I think I've actually decided this years defense is better than the 2005 defense. There would be no question in my mind if we had a Brent curvey on our team now.
