    Re: Money's Touchdown

I think you mean "touchdown" since it wasn't actually counted.

    Re: Money's Touchdown

The ball did clearly touch the ground, so the question was whether he had complete control with his hands & facemask before it did so. The replay official obviously either did not think he did or it was too close to call, I would like to think that the play would have been upheld either way the official on the field called it.

The ref clearly emphasized the word "stands" and he did not say that the call was "confirmed"... so i would tend to agree with you

    Re: Money's Touchdown

The call should have stood as it was called on the field after they reviewed it. Whichever way they determined it. (Obviously they called it incomplete)

    Re: Money's Touchdown

If it would have been ruled a TD on the field, it would have stood.
There just wasn't enough to overturn the call, either way.

I didn't see the ball move in his hands immediately before or during the touch of the ground so I thought it should have been called a TD. Since it wasn't, I think it was correct for the replay official to leave it alone. The video was far from conclusive.

If we had lost and not scored a TD on that drive, we would be talking about that call more. Good thing we don't have to!

    Re: Money's Touchdown

The play was definitely too close to call. If that had not been a home game, I don't believe the play would have even been reviewed. The crowd earned that review for sure. I still think it was a TD but it's so hard to tell when possession starts that I am not too upset about the call. I think if the ball wasn't ripped out of his hands at the end of the play then the play would have been called a TD.

If for no other reason, I wish I was at the game because of this. The terrible announcers we had on ESPN emphasized this for a good 15 minutes and explained it to us over and over again like we were in first grade.

I agree with your point about emphasizing their point, BUT I believe those TV announcers Friday night were the most fair and in the know towards Iowa State that I have heard in years.

I think it was a catch, and had it been called as such, would have stood.
