Flag on game winning TD vs. OSU

Forgive me if this was discussed elsewhere, I searched and found nothing.

Watch the televised (ESPN) clip of the final play against OSU. After the score, as Rhoads is crossing the field and they're showing the score it clearly shows the yellow "flag" marker on the screen on ESPN's score bar across the bottom of the screen.

I saw no flags on the field and the officials exited immediately. Was this a mistake by ESPN? Was this ever explained?

Just a tech glitch by ESPN.

Someone in the production truck must have done what I did atleast 5 times that night and thought one of the crowd's yellow flags was an officials.

That was the conference throwing the flag on us for destroying its chances at making an appearance in the National Championship game.

    This is the correct answer.

Re: Flag on game winning TD vs. OSU

I see this a lot at the end of games. Maybe the button for the flag icon is right by somewhere that someone would put their hands while standing up? Who knows. I saw it twice on Saturday as well, though, with no actual flags thrown.

And out of curiosity, what's the yardage penalty for awesomess? Is that actually what LJ has been getting flagged for all year?

We don't always get flagged but when we do, it's because of awesomeness.

It's actually the only flag that will get you positive yardage.

Actually it was weird - while the reviews didn't go our way there were a number of calls that did. That never happens to us. I was confused.

I hadn't noticed the Flag marker until I watched the ESPN3 replay last night (something I couldn't resist doing ... from third quarter onward).

It's funny how, given the other-shoe-dropping mentality I've developed as an ISU fan, I had a microsecond burst of anxiety when I saw the Flag marker, a day after I had seen the game live

The only line I like better is the line from the movie the Break-up 'Arrested for what being awesome?'
