    1982 ISU Captains

I'll post the names in a reply to this post so the folks who were here back in 82 can see if they remember each of these guys. Three played professional football, and one has a son that everyone here is excited about!!

These guys were so little compared to the players now.

Is Nelson still eligible? I think I like his attitude.

Arnaud and Osborne, along with Joe Brown and Larry Crawford, were the best secondary ISU ever had. I don't remember them playing zone at all. We called Crawford the Assasin and Arnaud Land Shark (or the other way around, the memory fades)

Nelson would have played longer in the NFL but I recall he got Hodgkin's disease. I lost track of how he was doing health-wise after a few years.

They all look too old to be in college. Are we sure this wasn't taken at a Class of '82 reunion?

I think I dig the pornstache on good 'ol #69. That could have something to do with him looking a little bit older than the average college player.

You're right, Arnaud was called LandShark, he would get down real low and hide behind a linebacker or a defensive lineman and then blitz. After the USFL shut down, I worked with John for a couple years and he would hide behind doors or desks and scare you when you walked by so we called him LandShark there too!! He was a funny, good natured guy.

I had thought that Karl was okay now and there was a question of whether playing in the Meadowlands had something to do with his disease because the stadium had been built on some kind of toxic waste dump. I think others had the same type of illness. I guess they must have decided there isn't anything to that since the teams still play there.
