    Re: Brodell out for season...

The loss of their tight end for a couple weeks is just as big.

I mean, Iowa is already short of talent at the receiving position. Now guys go down.

Bad news in Iowa City...I will NOT be surprised one bit if Indiana beats them. The folks in Hoosierland are quite upset after that loss to Illinois, a game they expected to win.

Jon Miller said he expected Moeaki to miss the rest of the year too. Too bad for Brodell, good Iowa kid, hate to see him go down.

Did I read on the Register that Iowa is favored by 11.5 on saturday? That's crazy. They'll be luck to get to 12 points.

That is too bad...Brodell seems like a nice kid. Loved to watch him run at the Drake Relays and the State Meet!

    Re: Brodell out for season...

It is amazing how before the season they were looking good on starters and depth. Now they are really thin. Specially since it doesn't sound like Stross will be back this week either.
Gonna be hard for the offense to mature if they have to keep going next man in on everyone.

Honestly I don't think the folks in Hoosierland care about football. this past weekend I was in Bloomington and my friend who goes to school there was giving me a tour around campus and 10 minutes before kickoff I swear to god there weren't even 500 people in the stadium and there were virtually no lines waiting to get in. My friend informed me that people at Indiana go to the game to tail gate and never even watch the actual game.

nice stadium, but a little small.

From what I heard on the radio this morning, they sold a large number of season tickets - either a record or much more than they've sold in recent years.

    Re: Brodell out for season...

It seems almost every starter on Iowa's offense is either a freshman or sophomore, except Young and Sims. And if what I'm hearing is true about Douglas and Bowman, they could have a log jam at receiver next year if they can avoid the injury and Johnny Law bugs.

My brother-in-law also keeps telling me to watch out for Iowa's defense in the next few years. He seems to think their current freshman and sophomores are much more "athletic" and talented than what they have out there right now. I follow recruiting closely and actually agree with him and think Iowa could be an interesting team to watch next year and the year after.

But, we also listened to them say 2005 was going to be special and look how that turned out.

    Re: Brodell out for season...

He is the one Iowa kid I root for (being from Ankeny.) That's too bad for him.

Will this type of injury slow him down at all in the future?

“One day we’ll be in here celebrating a Big 12 championship,” Rhoads said. “That I can promise you.”

"I hope to coach here until I retire," Hoiberg said.

We have been fairly lucky with the injury bug so far. Did our weight training coach help us out to avoid injuries?

Take away Moeaki and Brodell and Christensen is worthless especially without Dominique Douglas.

And here is the excuse you will hear from all the Squawks when you ask about the 2007 season.

    Re: Brodell out for season...

There will be no excuses - it's true. When a team has only two upperclassmen on offense, they won't put up many points against veteran defenses.

However, the Indiana defense is absolutely terrible, so you should be surprised if Iowa only puts up 12 on them - as well as if they lose. IU is better, but they aren't that good of a team.
