Trying to be optimistic, but i'm already frustrated.
Somebody said it in another thread, but this team didn't play with nearly as much heart tonight as the team last year did. I did like how they battled back with about a minute to play, but wow. I can't say enough how frustrated i was watching us lose to a team who will likely only finish mid-pack in the MVC, not to mention the announcers let me know that "drake has battled injuries and been short handed."
This is the same Drake team who lost a week ago in Exhibition to Quincy....?
Hopefully the teams Free Throw shooting improves, that was a major strength last year. Seems like it might be an achilles for this team if they are playing in close games, unless it gets better.
The help defense was pretty bad all game, well maybe not help defense, but switching was bad leading to pretty easy Drake lay-ups.
I really like the athletes we have. But we need to find a pure-PG. Play with a little more heart and intensity, i still think they can compete in the Big 12 which is my optimism. But this was an UGLY loss, which brings my frustrations.
We need non-conference victories, to make the big dance. And yes, that should be every Big 12 teams goal, victories in the Big 12 are going to be hard to come by like every other year.
