    Firefox Issue

I use Firefox and for some reason every 30 minutes or so (it seems) I become logged off of CF. I used to stay logged in for weeks at a time. Has anyone had this kind of problem or have any advice?

I am always interested in this, so I will ask. Is there a reason you use Firefox over IE? Are you a radical Bill Gates hater or is there another reason?

There would be no reason for that. Never heard of it. CycloneFanatic doesnt have a timeout that im aware of. Try cleaning out your cookies and stuff and try again.

Its like apple users. Some users like it because they understand its potential and its differing features. Others use it because they heard somewhere that it is better and more secure. And some want it because it is trendy. I have used it and Opera. Still not sold.

    Re: Firefox Issue

I have been a firefox user for a while, and it has alot of advanced features that I like, that microsoft doesn't let you mess with. Though alot of the features firefox has had for a while got put into ie 7 so it is not as bad now.

I thought CF did timeout. And rather quickly until the last few weeks. I've always had a problem staying logged in with IE at work and home. Not sure if the time has been lengthened or it's because I've been using Firefox lately.

Yeah well, ya know, that's just, like uh, your opinion, man.

Weird. I have never seen that. Is there a setting somewhere in this site? I stay logged in all day.

    Re: Firefox Issue

As far as fixing the OP's problem, make sure you're cookie settings allow cookies. Not sure what else to suggest as I have not had this problem.

Is it a new issue or an ongoing one?

Why Firefox? From a site I used to help run in the past...I saved this for future reference to thwart the use of IE (and these little free spy-ware...I mean add-ons)...

I am watching the logs today. I have my screen background black and the logs scroll with the font bright green, so I can pretend I am watching the Matrix.

Anyway, there are an amazing number of users on infected browsers. The one that is catching my eye at the moment is FunWebProducts. They offer cute icons in return for a backdoor into your computer.

Here's how to see if you are infected and how to remove it if you are.

    1. type javascript:alert(navigator.userAgent) into a browser's address bar and press enter.
    2. if you see FunWebProducts somewhere in the popup, you're infected.

You may be infected with other Malware, too. Some of it is very hard to find and remove, but there are Spyware scanners and removal tools and registry scanners you can try.

Half the problem with IE stem from its support of ActiveX. Turn that off and it may be a bit more secure - though I still wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole.

To those who haven't already, I highly recommend switching. Firefox is free, a damned good web browser in its own right, and security-wise they have a much better track record than the competition.

To prevent future infection, you can use IE and be very careful, or use Firefox, or get a Mac.

Too funny. Goes from light to an extreme.

Firefox runs much quicker than IE. 80% of the time Firefox will open up in 5-10 seconds, while IE will take 20-30 seconds just to open up. When browsing, if the network is acting the way it should, Firefox will load a page almost instantly, while on IE it can take anywhere between 10-30 seconds to load a page. I am not a patient person while online and I hate it when I could get quicker results using a dialup such as AOL than I would from my high-speed internet connection and IE (that's an exaggeration, but at times it feels like it). Firefox is also much more user-compatible in its tools than IE is. Just a much better program overall.

    Re: Firefox Issue

Yeah, that sentence amused me - however it is quite accurate. Personally I'm not a Mac fan - but love Firefox for it's security and flexibility.

And most of all, the speed....much faster browser.

I have used both, and developed web apps for both and I have not seen any of the issues/numbers you mention.
