Just be genuine and find a way to connect with her dad. No real need for gifts.

It's the her dad's world in that house. Buckle up and don't say anything stupid. Avoid talking politics, money, giving opinions on any subject. Just act confident and hope he tells stories and you laugh.

Agree with AJK...be yourself. Remember those lessons your folks taught you. Be a gentleman. Offer to help out with things (like clearing the table after dinner). Talk to them like you want to get to know them. Don't recount your glory days of drinking or conquests. lol

This. Just be yourself and relaxed. They will spot a mile away if you're being fake or trying to suck up. I agree with trying to connect with the dad.

    Re: Meeting the parents

Regardless of your living arrangements, it's probably a good idea to show up with your own luggage. A guy that I knew tried to visit his own grandmother and made the mistake of walking in with a shared suitcase. He ended up staying at the local motel.

Bring something for mom: flowers, wine etc. Never can go wrong with that.

    Re: Meeting the parents

Ask her what to expect. Once you get that figured out, make a game plan. I would also add never talk sports, unless her father is a good guy and happens to be a Cyclone fan.

There are not many crowds or places in the country that have a better impact on the game than at Iowa State. The Cyclone fans are truly a sixth man. The place is so loud and always a fantastic crowd." - Former Kansas and current North Carolina head coach Roy Williams

Hug her mom and proclaim, "This just feels right."

Oh and even if you are 6'3 250 like me and the dad is much smaller. Always assume he has a gun... :jimlad: ...but seriously.
