    In Phoenix 11/14 - 11/22

I know a bunch of you have been there, but this will be my first trip. It's a business trip, but all of my evenings will be free (software training during the day) and I'll have an open weekend too. I contacted the ISUAA Club of Phoenix and it sounds like I found out where to watch the Okie St game (The Vines on Rural and Apache St.), but I've got 8 other nights to find something to do. Thanks in advance!

You can spend a lot of time and money picking out the perfect floral bouquet for your date ... but you're probably better off checking if you have bad breath and taking the porn out of the glove compartment.

Barbecue: Cooper'sTown (as in Alice. Sports bar/live music, good BBQ, but not fancy) or Bobby Q's (Better food than Cooper'sTown. More typical restaurant atmosphere.
Cajun Seafood: Pappadeaux. Might be a chain, but great food. And I don't care for seafood.

Definitely a chain and very good.

My only advice is to realize and remember that the Phoenix metro area is huge. Very spread out. People are going to recommend this place and that place and you might be the better part of an hour from some of them. These guys will have you paying $50 in cab fares to go out for a $10 plate of enchiladas.

I do have a rental car, but thanks for the warning. I'm staying at The Buttes Resort, between the airport and Tempe.

Bring swimtrunks. They have 2 (or 3? I don't remember) pools and 4 or 5 really nice hot tubs. If you get a chance, hike up to the top of the buttes, really nice view of the city from there.

If it's anything like it has been the last three days, swimtrunks won't be necessary... only jeans and sweatshirts. It was 35 when I woke up this morning.

As for places to go, Old Town Scottsdale is good if you like females. It comes at a price though as there are as many dbags as women. Tempe bar scene is great if you can handle college kids. Catch a Coyotes game if you like hockey. If its warm enough, hiking Camelback Mtn is a great workout.

i'm sorry. Phoenix and Tulsa are the two worst cities in America.

The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again. Oh... people will come Ray. People will most definitely come.

You mean besides Des Moines? Sorry I've never been lucky enough to spend time in Denver. I've read enough of your posts in other "cities" threads to know that Denver is the only town that can contain your awesomeness.

Thanks everyone else for suggestions. I've heard great things about the Pappadeaux's in Houston, so I'll try hitting that up. I heard Mill Ave from another source as well. As far as cougar dens are concerned, I'm 31 and married with three kids so, um, not interested but I'll certainly take an opportunity to evaluate the quality of the ASU student body from a mutually-comfortable distance should it present itself.

If you get a chance and haven't seen it, the Grand Canyon is a couple hours north. Definitely worth both trips up there while we were in Tempe.

For Mexican, try Frank and Lupe's in Old Town. 4 peaks Brewery is a good place place to check out for some local beers and grab some grub
