    Re: Rhoads by the numbers

McCarney's best 34 game run was 23-11 from 2000-to 2002. I have to assume that's not too far off the best 34 game run Majors and Bruce had.

This is to illustrate that Rhoads has started his tenure by operating in a manner not too far off Mac's best years/teams.

Bruce fielded teams in '76 and '77 that could play with anyone in the country. They were a legit top ten team. I wouldn't compare DMc's accomplishments with Earle's, IMHO.

Hopefully Rhoads can bring our program back to where we know it can be.

Should that be 2000-02? Wouldn't be enough games in 2-season span.

Bruce's best 34-game run was 24-10. But included 2 bowl games (losses)

Majors' best stretch of 34 was somewhere around 18-16-1 -- 2 bowl games (losses)

I think you're point is, you can't tell exclusively from comparison of records, correct?

Especially by arbitrarily choosing a 34 game sample.

    Re: Rhoads by the numbers

I think the key 34 game stretch would be those coaches FIRST 34 games. Any other comparison really doesn't mean anything much.

    Bruce: 12-21
    Majors: 11-20
    McCarney: 6-27

People watching our team right now need to look at that and sober up a little with any hate they send the staffs way.

I was going to say that, too, using first 34.

To adjust your numbers to 34:
    Bruce: 13-21
    Majors: 14-20
    Mac: 7-27

    Dan mac:

    2000: 9-3
    2001: 7-5
2002: 6-1 to start the season

    22-9.

However he only won 6 games his first 3 years. 6-27 record.

Really should be 5-0 against non-BCS teams, that Utah team was coming off some top 10 caliber seasons and joined the Pac 12 the next year. They weren't anywhere near what people consider a non-BCS program when we played.

CPR has won every game we "SHOULD" win so far. He's only lost toss ups and underdog games. He's had 3-4 legitimate wins in games we "SHOULDN'T" win to go along with that.

    Love this guy as coach.

Good work, I was too lazy to go and find each coaches first games of their 4th season and get it exact.

I could be wrong, but with the teams playing 5 non conference games back in the day compared to modern day 4 and now 3 game schedules, the overall schedule has got to be a lot harder than it used to be right?

I loved those teams but those schedules were nothing compared to what these 3 CPR teams have faced. The B12 South teams and Iowa were still all rebuilding for the most part and the non conference games were cake in general. Those teams would have struggled to hit .500 against schedules like '11.

It's not only who you lose to, but how you lost. Last month in Columbia with last year in Boulder were totally inexcusable. Losing is one thing, not showing up is another.
