    Car repair in Ankeny

Just moved to Ankeny. Need to take the car in for some tire/under the hood repair.

Where's the best, most reputable place in Ankeny to take a car for said repairs?

    Thanks in advance.

When I lived there my brother and sister in law did all their business at a place north on Ankeny Blvd. I think it was called Heartland, IIRC.

    Re: Car repair in Ankeny

Tim's Amoco (on the corner of 1st St. And Ankeny Blvd.) doesn't look like much from the outside but they have never done me wrong. They've actually talked me out of some work that I thought needed done but they said it could wait or wasn't worth it. They also fixed my serpentine belt once when it broke at the intersection there at 4:55pm on July 3rd even though I said it could wait until after the holiday if needed. Great guys.

Ditto here. Sanders Auto Lab on Ordnance is good too.

I have an older vehicle and use to use Woody's all the time, but had really bad experiences there my last couple of visits. Those experiences prompted me to try Tim's, and it is hands down a more trusted shop IMO.

Woody's and Tim's are both good.

CyStalker - Too bad about Woody's. I'm sure if you talked to Bill Wood (owner) he would try to make it right. Bill's a good guy.

100% agree on Woody's. It's the only place I've gone since Bill opened up 10 or so years ago. I went to Tim's before that and never had any problems, but I prefer Woody's.

    Re: Car repair in Ankeny

Thanks to all that recommended Tim's. Took my wife's car to where we got the tires, they said $2,400 of work was needed. We were skeptical. Tim's said lots of it was unnecessary, we were Only needs about $600. Screw you Firestone. Tim's will be my go to place from now on.

    Re: Car repair in Ankeny

Who do people use for the same services in West Des Moines / Waukee area? Just curious, since I have not had pleasant experience with my normal place the last couple times.
