    Service Academy Games = Awesome

Today went to the Army @ Air Force game with my wife, cousin, and her husband who played football for the Army in the '90s. Had a great time. Of course there was a lot of smack talk, and obviously both sides wanted to win the game.

But this is the FIRST game I have ever been to where everyone was cordial, nothing out of hand, no drunk jerks, fights, etc. A lot of respect on all ends. Had a great time, and we will all definitely go back in two years. Feel free to post if you've had similar experiences.

Re: Service Academy Games = Awesome

I totally agree, isukendall. I went to the AF-Navy games in '04 and '06 with my brother who is a Naval officer stationed with Northcom at the time. The pageantry is great... he get's worked up about beating the other service academies like I get worked up for ISU to beat nebraska and iowa. We made a sign in '04 with a poster of an aircraft carrier on it saying "Hey Air Force - Land on This!!" Several admirals gave us the thumbs up when we flashed it!

I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.

Re: Service Academy Games = Awesome

My little brother played wingback for AF from '01 to '05. Went to multiple games, but the best of all was in October 2001 when they played Navy at Fedex field just a month after 9/11.

I love how after the game both teams go and sing eachothers fight songs in front of eachother fan sections. Lots of tears that day in October.

Other than ISU, the service academies is who I will raise my son to admire.

I would love to and will go to these games someday. Besides ISU game's these games especially army navy is my favorite game of the year. I don't find myself watching an entire game of any other teams except these one's.

What you are describing is actually how most college football games are at the various levels. There's a big sober world out there outside of FBS games.

"Day after day, situation after situation you do things the right way. If you do things the right way, in life, you are going to be successful. I'm not just your football coach; I'm not just here to win games. I could not be prouder of who we are and who we are becoming, together. You do things right in the classroom, off and on the field; that's whats's makes us Cyclones and that's what our culture's all about."

Hopefully AF and Navy can work their way back onto the schedule in the future.

Did we have to remove them from our non-conf schedules because of the Big 12 changes?? Darn, I was really looking forward to these games.

It was cool when Army came to town in Paul Rhoads' inaugural season.

agreed. I went to the ISU@ Army game in '05, and was planning on the Air force trip in 2012 until Pollard pulled the plug on that and the Navy game in annapolis in '18/'18.

West Point is a special place

    very disappointed in that move
