    12 teams=Bowling

If the big 12 were to have 12 teams we would be bowling right now. Get back to 4 non-conferance games and we should expect to win 6 or more games a year.

We replaced Utah, Nebraska and Colorado with Okla St, Baylor and A&M. Good chance we would have won one of those, but we did lose all 3 last year, so no guarantee.

Folks...we are not going back to 8 conference games even with 12 teams. It will be 9 from here forward.

Sorry. Didn't see that part. :)

Is that even mathematically possible? How would nine games with twelve teams work? Not a slam, just curious what that schedule would look like. And I wanted to make you post some more so I can stare at your avatar.

Reasons? Playing all 5 division opponents and 3 from other division works out nice number wise.

Teams that lose 6 conference games do not deserve to go bowling.

B10 is moving to 9 games with 12. Our TV contract is based on 9 conf. games and with Tier 1 coming up and the other 12 team conferences moving to 9 games, you can bet your britches we aren't going to pull a conference game away after playing 9 for two years.

In the various realignments threads, there has been speculation that, in a 12-team league, the TV partners would expect 9 conference games (not 8) as part of a new contract (reason - better games to choose from).

Perhaps. But nowadays they do, so your point is moot.

    Re: 12 teams=Bowling

Don't need 12 necessarily, just 8 conf games. Next year we lose A&M and Mizzou and gain TCU. It'd be interesting if WVU is stuck for awhile. Then ISU could go pick up an actual cupcake for one and we'd be bowl eligible sooner. Idk what the big 12 wouldn't want as many teams as possible from their conf in bowl games. The 9 team conf schedule hurts that.

    Re: 12 teams=Bowling

It needs to get back to 12 regardless if they go back to 8 conf games or stay at 9. With 12 teams in the Big12 and 9 conf games ISU wouldnt have to play 2 conf opponents each year. So not playing oklahoma and TCU for example makes it easier to get to 6
