Are they really ready for work?

Just got an assignment which is to condense this 64 page report into 2 pages. Easy enough, but I got to reading this info and it is actually pretty interesting. Has anyone ever seen these results before?

Pretty much a report from roughly 400 companies and how they see recent grads as being ready for the job place based off skills. High school grads pretty much suck, 2 year grads are a little better, and 4 year grads are the top of the 3 choices but are still not mind boggling.

Re: Are they really ready for work?

Don't feed me with the "you learn to make friends" social bs. I've always wondered what I really learned in college. I don't remember much machine design or fluids or circuits & motors. Maybe I remember general concepts, but no more than what I could look up on wikipedia in 3 minutes.

I guess you could say it took hard work an determination to get my ME degree, but I feel like hard work and determination are an inherent personality trait.

I'm not saying my college experience was COMPLETELY worthless. Just that it could have been crammed into 2 years instead of 4. None of it was too grueling.

I agree with your passing down of genes arguement. I think they are more interested in things like smarts along with diversity and work ethic and other shenanigans. I am not sure where you get "social bs" idea from but whatever floats your boat.
