    Kansas' defense

After 8 games KU defense is averaging...

49.5 points per game (last in FBS)
555 yards per game (last in FBS)
298 passing yards per game (5th to last in FBS)
258 rushing yards per game (3rd to last in FBS)

They haven't held an FBS opponent to under 42.

I see the spread is now at ISU by 14 with an over under of 61. That'd mean Vegas thinks ISU wins roughly 38-24.

How much do we score against them? Do we continue the FBS streak of scoring at least 42 against them?

What defense? Mangino ate 'em all when he left.

    Paul Rhoads' players never quit.
    (They just disappear offseason)

42 would be great...I just see a lower scoring game.

    Re: Kansas' defense

That is some seriously bad numbers. And to think they slowed OU down in there. I hope ISU drops 54 on them so they can be giving up an even 50 per game.

I thought the 41 on TT was pretty impressive, but ISU had a lot of help with turnovers in the raiders red zone. It would take a lot for the Clones to score 50 if they keep the ball on the ground, like I think they will.

The windy colder weather will keep the score down.We may have only 500 yards offense.

    Re: Kansas' defense

I want to see us score 50, but my gut tells me that our offense played the game of their life last week. We just don't score like that twice in a season yet.

Since we are an elite team now, let's go get that One Cyclone Moment.
Make this one for the ages!

Field Goal Battle, Defensive Slugfest, First team to double digits wins, four yards and a cloud of dust, its all about the battle at the line of scrimmage, this game is about matchups on the line and getting good blocking angles, both teams using two fullbacks, do you have a tight end?

    Re: Kansas' defense

I just hope we don't fall victim to a Texas Tech style let down. If you followed the TT boards before they played us, it was eerily similar to what we are saying about KU.

KU has some talent. They went toe to toe with OU for the first half in Lawrence. If we come out like TT did against us, they are capable of winning.

Furthermore, they know their coaches are on the hot seat, so they are going to be fighting for them. This is a game they circled on their calendar as one they think they can win. They are very likely to take a lot of risks trying to get a win.

I just hope the ISU that showed up for TT also shows up for KU.

It doesn't matter what the weather is like or how many turnovers there are. Neither ISU or KU will be below 10 points at the end of the game.

KU's offense is okay. Last week against Texas was by far the outlier game for KU's offense.

I think the 38-24 prediction by Vegas sounds about right.

    Re: Kansas' defense

I really hope we can put this game into perspective. They are a conference opponent. We play at home. We should win.

But that's it. Way too many upsets in college football to expect a cake walk. At the same time, a win, in any fashion should be appreciated. Even if we were Oklahoma.

    Re: Kansas' defense

Question about KU's offense. Given how horrendous their team is I haven't had the heart to watch any of their games the last two years, and last years game against ISU was so full of crap that I've burned it from my mind. What type of O do they run? A painfully ineffective spread?

Not sure what type of offense they run, but there strength would probably be the running game, with former ISU commit D.J. Beshears as their most explosive player.

I was watching one of their games a while back and noticed that their starting running back from last year, Tobin Opurum (sp?) is now one of their starting line backers.

I think he's moved to defensive end now.

    Re: Kansas' defense

KU defense is bad because their offense is stuffed so quickly that the defense is on the field a lot.

KU offense is inadequate because the defens egioves uop so many points that a running game will not cut it for them.

KU special teams are not special.

Great teams score 50-70 against them, good teams score 30-40, and poor teams score 20-30. Let's be great. Let's score till Turner is blue in the Gill. Just remember this is a battle for the bottom team. We must not lose....

I really hope not. That doesn't bode well for ISU.
