Why do people put up with mediacom? I never understood that.

Change providers, I am. I'm having trouble getting some channels and they told me it would be 2 weeks before they could have someone come take a look at it. I've been with them since back in the 80's. That's it for me, I wouldn't keep it even if it was free. I'm going with our local phone company.

I do because I live in an apartment where it wouldn't allow dishes on the roof and when they tired to install the dish on the balcony, they found out there's a tree blocking the signal

and let's be honest. Even if the tree wasn't in the way, it would look like crap hanging on the rails of all the decks of an apartment building.

I don't have too many problems. Yes, the ones that happen do suck, but all services experience downtime at one point or another.

We also live in a complex that doesn't allow dishes. We have a local company who stepped up their game and is installing fiber all throughout town...so I've been thinking about going through them. Only problem is we signed a 1 year contract with mediacom in May (when we moved in) and the TV portion has just been absolutely terrible.

HD had been iffy at best since July (pixelating). Thought I would be patient and finally called it in sometime in September as I was getting annoyed about SD football. Had a guy come out and switch our box (which made me lose my DVR'd games).

Tech hung around for about 30 seconds after he saw one channel was "working" and took off telling me it was working. Called it in yet again in, had another guy come out. Didn't do a thing but said there was something wrong with the lines and they will work on it.

Three months later, after many service interruptions due to them "working on it" I have gotten all of $32 in credits with a $150 monthly bill because "HD is free", "On Demand is a free service", and "Your standard def channels are working fine"

Got home last night and only one standard def channel is working...the food network. Don't know if this is God's way of saying I need to eat healthier, but I do not approve. Also woke up this morning and our internet was out.

Would you fellas say this is a strong enough case to void the last 6 months of the contract with full deposit back?

Mediacom has decent internet but their TV package sucks.

Their sports back is unwatchable with the poor picture quality. I cant believe I tried them again.

We have great price.. just not worth it.

I'm not sure. I don't like mediacom. I have it and I look at switching often. But here are the reasons I continue to stay. Maybe someone can tell me I don't have good logic here. This is only based on comparison to DirecTV:

    1) I can plug a TV in with a built in Digital Tuner and get most channels. This is great for TVs in rooms I don't use often. No...I don't get HD channels (well, I do for network TV) but it is good enough. I really don't like the idea of a required cable box.

    2) When I compare pricing, the only thing that is lucrative about switching is the first year of service, after that, I pay more for a similar package when you include everything. Especially the box monthly rental fee that you pay even after buying the box.

    3) As much as I hate the quality of the broadcast, I get a lot of ISU games on Mediacom 22. Now if they could only make this channel HD.
