    Internet Service in Ames

Ok, so I've had it with Qwest (Century Link) and their slow 1.5 Mbps internet service. Apparently faster speeds aren't available in my neighborhood (Parkview Heights). So I'm in the market for faster service. Any recommendations?

I wish I could upgrade, but that speed isn't available in my neighborhood. I called Qwest (I refuse to call them Century Link), but there are no plans to upgrade our neighborhood anytime soon.

I'd love to have 12 mbps as right now we only have the 1.5 mbps. I looked online at Mediacom and saw that they are offering the 12 mbps for $45 a month (and that's the promotional offer). Not crazy about spending close to $50 a month for internet.

I used to work for Mediacom when they were TCI and AT&T. I swore that once I got a house that I would get satellite and never, EVER use Mediacom. I'm very happy with Directv for my television programming.

Yea, they are usually kind of steep. I only got that deal because the apartment i live in had free cable through mediacom, and internet through rent Iowa which offered the upgrade through mediacom for just $30 a month. Wasn't sure what the normal rate is.

You could try these guys, they provide the internet to my apartment building and the internet is solid, but other than that, idk anything about them.
