And then there is Boise State

If Oklahoma State and Stanford both fail to go undefeated during the regular season does that give Boise State a shot at playing for the National Title?

I would still put in a 1 loss OSU/LSU/BAMA/Stanford into the title game over BSU.

They will find a way to stop that from happening. Assuming Okie State loses to Oklahoma I bet it would be OU playing the SEC champion. Hell I think LSU would rematch Alabama before Boise makes it in.

Re: And then there is Boise State

I would say yes! If they go undefeated this year, that means they only have 1 loss in the last 3 years and I really don't see the polls can keep them out of the NC game.

So now lets start the arguments that a 1 loss SEC or Big 12 team is better than Boise State! Even though I might agree to a certain extent, if Boise State were to make the NC game, I would actually expect them to win considering when it comes to strategy and planning against 1 particular team, they always pull the upset and win.

I say let them play for the NC, this is the only way to end the argument of Boise State being deserving to play in the game

Re: And then there is Boise State

They should, have earned it over time.

People say they don't play anyone... but they run schedules at least 3-4 years in advance. They scheduled Georgia, who was #1 in the nation few years back... not their fault they are not as good now. Scheduled Oregon and Va Tech in the last five years. They even transferred to a tougher conference... not their fault everyone leaves when they arrive.

They schedule like one.. maybe 2 difficult teams in the nonconference. Then they fill the rest with non-BCS teams. If youre a team like boise state and you play cupcakes all conference season, you should be scheduling 4 BCS teams in your noncon.

You're right they can't do much about their conference schedule. But they have 4 games they have control over, and they schedule cupcakes.

Re: And then there is Boise State

Boise just needs to get in to an AQ conference and this will solve the problem.. When Boise plays the Oklahoma/ Alabama/ Florida/ Stanford/ Texas/ Oklahoma State's every year and go undefeated then they will be in a national titles. Playing 1 good team every year at the beginning of the year will not get you into a national title. Hate to be a Boise hater but until they play a conference schedule then they will get snubbed by a team that had had to play a gauntlet schedule and only have 1 slip up.

Boise can have a bad game during the year and still be able to beat them by 30+.

A team is only as good as who they play, and will only get the deserved credit from who they beat as well.

Re: And then there is Boise State

If they are undefeated give them a shot. It isn't their fault no one will take them in a conference because they lack TV's. We know how that goes. Also, a lot of teams that would help Boise's resume won't schedule them because they are afraid of BSU ruining THEIR OWN shot. They've earned the shot with their performance in the BCS bowls over the last several years.

is it that big of a deal if boise makes the nt game or how about an unranked big east school automatically making a bcs game?

Its more academics than TVs. Marquee matchups do matter. TCU brings in no TVs to us, and neither does Nebraska. But their games generate ratings that media partners value.

That problem will probably be fixed when the big east gets its BCS status pulled. Losing Pitt\Syracuse\WVU\TCU is probably going to do that.

Re: And then there is Boise State

I wouldn't have a problem with them getting in but they won't either way this year. If Okie St and Stanford run the table they get left out and more than likely OU if they win out would jump them with 1 loss.
