    Texas Recruiting

So with our Dominating performance last night... and might I add that all the Texas kids all had great games! I think that this may be good for our recruiting, especially in the Longhorn $tate.

With that being said who becomes our next Commitment will in be a Texan or from somewhere else?

    Re: Texas Recruiting

We always hope that wins like this help our recruiting, but they never seem to amount to much. Maybe that'll change with last night's domination, maybe not, but it certainly didn't hurt recruiting.

    Re: Texas Recruiting

It was one game. Cyclone fans are on the upswing of their bi-polar disorder I see. Texas kids will still want to play in Texas first. Missouri beating T A/M did not get Germain Ifedi back on board. He wanted to play closer to home, and this will be the case for most kids. TTU will still out recruit us by a big margin this year. Paul Rhoads is going to have to find some hidden gems this year, and in the coming years.

That being said I think we will get a Florida player before the next Texas kid commits. I think Malik SImmons visits the coming weekend. He and Fuller are both planning visits here soon, and I suspect we can get at least one.

I'm guessing it's going to be Aziz Shittu.

I'll take consistently positive over consistently negative any day.

    Re: Texas Recruiting

I am not blowing this out of proportion, yeah its one win, but it is also a road win against a ranked team, I think some excitement is deserved. I never said that we would out recruit any Texas School or even get a commit to a Texas School to decommit and commit to us.

I was only pointing out the fact that this should help our recruiting in Texas, not all kids want to stay close to home, some what the get away and just play ball without all the distractions.

I agree that it won't amount to much, but any help in the big 3 states (CAL,FLO,& TEX) is greatly welcomed, IMO.

    Re: Texas Recruiting

I think what JBs father said about our coaching staff turns some heads and HS coaches in Texas that know a kid has talent but isn't in the mix with the big boys will know ISU is a great place for their kids to land.

    Re: Texas Recruiting

If you grow up playing HS football in Texas, then you dream of playing for a school like Texas, OU, or A&M. If you're not good enough for those schools, then you usually look at schools like Tech or TCU. ISU can get a few of these kids who may be looking at the Techs or TCU's of the world, but the majority are still going to stay in state. We just have to keep finding diamonds in the rough like KO

I will take consistently realistic over getting way to pumped by one win anyday. This fandom has some serious perception issues. We are either way worse than we are, or the best team in the world.

    Re: Texas Recruiting

It helps, but recruiting will always be a challenge for us because we are in Iowa, but that goes for the sqwuaks as well. I love this state, but we just do not have a big city like most states. I will say winning helps and having a great institution like Iowa State and a beautiful campus!! Oh yeah and CPR!!

While their may be a few fans that are that way you are way over exaggerating the issue. I think most of our fans are a little more grounded than that especially given our history. Still that's no reason for fans not to get excited when we have some success.
