KSU the rest of the year

The remainder of their schedule is (in order) Okie State, A&M, Texas and ISU after getting pounded by Oklahoma tonight. Do you think they'll pull a 2002 ISU and, after acheiving a Top 10 ranking, get spanked by Oklahoma and then lose the rest of their games this year? I think it's possible. Their conference wins are against Baylor, Mizzou, TTech and Kansas. Of those teams, Kansas is the only team they beat by more than 7 points.

We just pounded Tech and I think we'll beat KU next week. We played Baylor well for about 3 quarters, but I think we got lost on the way to Columbia. They could be reeling from losing 3/4 or even 4 straight, without much to play for. We could be playing for bowl eligibility. That may still be a decent shot at getting win number 6 (assuming we don't knock off OU or OSU between now and then).

Let's pound the Jayhawks next week and then keep an eye on what's going on in Manhattan.

They will at least beat us and Texas. They get their first loss to an extremely tough team and suddenly everyone thinks they are collapsing.

Anything that helps clear the way for a bowl this year (considering the previous 4 games), I'll take it even if it requires KSU pulling an ISU-'02.

KSU has legitimacy *did beat Missouri, which is continuing to win. I wasn't 100% sure they "seemed" like a BCS-ranked team. As I said in another post, definitely bad timing to play OU after last week's loss. On the other hand, that was a second-half rout.

I didn't see the second half of the game, but something tells me Oklahoma might have written the book on how to stop Klein State University today. Whether their other opponents can do so will give us a better gauge in the coming weeks. Count me as hopeful, though.

This is usually what happens to KSU. However, it will be hard to judge how good they will be when they play us because they're about to go through a brutal stretch.

Re: KSU the rest of the year

I didn't say they are collapsing, but it looks like their schedule is tougher in the second half than it was in the first. I think that after KU, they are our most realistic shot at win #6. I also think it's not out of the question that they lose to OSU and A&M, and if they get onto a losing stretch there's no telling where their minds might go.

In 2002 we nearly beat #3 Florida State, beat KU by 42, beat #20 Nebraska by 22, and beat TTech by 16. Then #2 OU spanks us 49 - 3, and we lose 6 of our last 7 games (5 of those losses came against Top 25 opponents) including at home to a terrible UCONN team in the season finale and then to Boise St. in the Humanitarian Bowl.

I'm not saying they WILL collapse, but it's within the realm of feasibility and it would also benefit ISU. I will be looking more closely at how their performance trends over the next mont for sure.

I think they'll beat at least one of the Texas schools, probably A&M at home.

I said it before. KSU=ISU circa 2002. They don't belong in the top 10 and they will falter against their tough schedule to finish the season.

KSU 2011 will end up being ISU 2002.

ISU 2002 beat Mizzou between getting beat by OU/Texas and Kansas State/Colorado.

Looked like you defeat their defense in the air and they are dead meat. Their defensive backfield looked buffaloed.

Well, in 2002 OU wrote the book on how to beat ISU and everyone except Mizzwho followed suit (although they did give us a run for our money in a 35-28 barn burner). This includes a really bad UConn team in their first year as a D-IA school.

    Let's hope 2011 K-State = 2002 ISU - if that's the case ISU should go bowling.

Momentum is a cruel ***** in college football. That schedule is a meat grinder (like ours), and they may be in quite the negative swing by the time we hit town. I don't think they're overly talented (or devoid of talent either), but win by playing smart and tough.
