    More shocking upsets

Name some... Honestly in terms of pure domination and point spread, I'm having a hard time coming up with a more shocking upset relative to pregame expectations than this one.

The biggest one from my memory was the 1992 win over #4 Nebby. ISU was 2-7 at the time. It was shocking, but I seem to remember it having kind of a fluky feel. And it was no blowout at 19-10.

We just put a straight-up whooping on a high-powered team that just knocked off the #1 team in the country. The nature of this win is shocking.

    Minnesota 22, Iowa 21. 10/29/2011.

Oh, you mean ISU.... Do the numbers "9" and "7" mean anything to you?

WE beat TAMU at TAMU under McCarney. That was the same type of game as this

They do, but there is a big difference with that win: you can easily attach the word "fluky" when you're talking about 8 turnovers. It was a GREAT win and I enjoyed every second of it.

But the win tonight is in a different category. We dominated Tech on both sides of the ball. If someone would have said that the score of tonight's game would be 41-7, 99.99999999999 percent of college football fans would have said it will be a Tech win, and the only person that would have said otherwise is Cyclone Jerry.

Not really. A/M was very bad that year. They were supposed to beat us, but when is that not the case.

TTU just had a great win. But they are still not a great team.

    Re: More shocking upsets

I believed we would beat Nebraska, since their offense was pathetic.

I believed we could/would beat Texas, because UCLA had managed to do it.

I believed that we had no chance of beating Tech tonight. There weren't any indications that this was really possible.

Since we are an elite team now, let's go get that One Cyclone Moment.
Make this one for the ages!

That was definitely shocking, and a big upset. But TA&M was unranked and the margin of victory was smaller.

They also had the 119th ranked pass defense at the time. Everyone in Ames knew we should've been able to throw on them and man did we throw on them.

That's the biggest one that came to my mind, other than perhaps the Marv Seiler Nebraska game (not dominating, but sure as hell shocking).

That one is up there- probably top 5, top 3 in recent history. But, even though most national media and local media didn't give us a shot, I think Iowa State fans still thought we had a good shot in that game.

Nobody expected 23-3, but, given the recent history in the series, rivalry game, home game, etc, I'm not sure it was shocking to the same level as tonight's domination.

I will say that I was fairly confident even through the summer prior to that game that we would win. It was a glorious victory to be sure. Highest ranked team we've ever beaten? Listen to this and recall how crazy that victory:

HAHA! Hadn't thought of that one, but it was just before I have real solid memories of Cyclone football. Was Bryant a senior that year, or did he graduate in 1989?

Either way, the fact that this game was mentioned in the discussion further emphasizes the shocking nature of tonight's win.
