Re: Disturbing act in HS football post game handshake

sounds like a little time in juvy for this kid. heres a local and disgusting story dealing with poor sportsmanship at CMB highschool.

CMB Players Allegedly Peed in Lockers Following their Loss - WHO

In my experiences with CMB, they always seemed to be very poor sports. During a district baseball game, we beat them 10-2 and in the post-game handshake every player on their team said "lets play football *******" . bunch of poor sport idiots.

    That made the news?

Second part, who cares? I've heard plenty of F U's in a handshake line. Usually its the lame kids that try to talk trash the whole game, and every school has them.

Re: Disturbing act in HS football post game handshake

I played baseball for Ames and never had a problem with any unsportsmanlike behavior. Des Moines East was the only team that was questionable with the post-game handshake, but I may be bias, considering they had fans/maybe students before the game come up to the fence while we were stretching calling all of us white boys the n word and threatening to beat us up after the game. East and Ames aren't even rivals, so no one on the team was totally sure what they were getting at.

And Marshalltown had students that throw water balloons on the field during the game. That was just stupid.

I find this very hard to believe. The part about being called out by East fans/students. If it was at East, you as a visiting player, were warming up in left field. Outside the field down the left field line is not even inside the sport complex, which includes Williams Stadium, as well as both baseball and softball fields. If you were being called out, it was probably by neighborhood thugs who attend night school, with no affilliation to East.

Post game handshakes? Might be a different story. Every school has their share of ******, and at East, all we have is baseball. Very competitive and don't lose well. My guess is, though, if you lost to East, they acted as if they could have given two ***** about you. Let
    me tell you...they didn't.

EDIT: Just wanted to add something about you saying Ames and East aren't rivals. Maybe not to Ames, but every other school, no matter who it is, is a rival to East. The Scarlets hate everybody. Lee Township versus The World isn't just a motto on the eastside. It's a way of life.

It was a day game, because I believe East doesn't have lights, unless they recently installed them (I played a few years ago) and we were warming up in left field and they came from the opposite side of the football field (behind the third base dugout) and I figured they were from East because they were also saying how Ames had no chance against them and basketball was the only sport Ames would ever beat East in because of Harrison. And it definitely wasn't the team acting up in the post game handshake, just one kid, not going to blame the school for that. However, like the story above, who knows how many kids were involved in the urinating in the locker room, but it represents the entire school, unfortunately. Paying close attention to high shool sports, I know Des Moines East athletically is as good as it gets in a lot of sports, I was just stating that there was only a couple instances of unsportsmanlike conduct in my high school days, and one happened to occur at an East baseball game.

I find it interesting that the main point of the story isn't that someone was shooting at the team bus, but the fact that the parents were angry about it.
