If TCU and WV will see around 9 mil in 2012, what happens with the rest of their share? Split equally between the original 8? That would be an extra 2.25 mil for ISU in 2012.
That is the 14.85 million dollar question which is the total amount of $$ that is generated from the phase in. If it is shared equally with the other 8 schools each school gets a total of 3.1 million. I wonder if it is being used in part for the penalty of TCU and WVU or it could be held by the conference in an compensation fund in case for whatever reason the actual revenue of the conference falls below what is expected.
I don't know. I thought the only practical reason to bring in new members with phased in revenue is to compensate for the drop off in revenue to the original 8 schools if they went to 12.
Right now it doesn't look like the B12 isn't going to 12 any time soon. If the schools shared the revenue from the phase in equally the amount doesn't make much of an impact if you look at it over time. So if the B12 isn't planning on going to 12 soon then I've got to think it's going to be used for the other schools penalties or as a "rainy day" fund.
