    Gimbel breaks state record

Vandenburg's record has been broken in 10 games compared to V's 13. Good receiver's and YAC help but still a pretty amazing stat. Mtown won 54-10 over Council Bluffs tonight.

You know what would make this thread better?

If you told us what stat you were talking about, and why we should care.

Passing yards in a season, already had passing yards in a game, I figured the Vandenberg inclusion would point to that since it's common knowledge.

    Re: Gimbel breaks state record

I had absolutely no idea who held the record for passing yards in a season. And now that I know it was Vandenburg, I wish I didn't know.

You think that Vandenberg's high school career stats are common knowledge?

Why would you think that was common knowledge?

Regardless, you answered the first question and I appreciate that. Let's move on to the second part: I'm happy for him But why should we care? Are we recruiting him?

Well I posted it in another thread, just stating. I guess I watched ISU Iowa and every other Iowa game and just thought since they said it every game people would know. Or the fact that it was recent and we live in Iowa.

Support! Thanks! But 10 games to state record passing yards in comparison to 13 games for VB? Wish he wasn't a Hawk fan though.

Huge Hawkeye -- entire family is. IMO, there's no way he becomes a Cyclone.

I understand most posters on here probably don't pay attention to high school sports unless there's some link to Iowa State, but it's been mentioned multiple times in multiple newspaper articles, news segments, etc. Huge accomplishment really.

Gimbel is averaging 374 yards per game. His biggest game was 567 vs Sioux City East mid-way through the season. His lowest game total this season was 290. His first 9 games were all in the top 11 in the CIML for passing yards -- possibly all 10 games in the top 12 (not sure what other QBs in CIML got tonight). Just to compare, Vandenberg averaged 286 passing yards per game.

Well, I knew Gimbel broke it because I'm from Mtown. I knew Vandenberg had it but he's not from Mtown. So I'll go with both, my memory serves me too well.
