Re: FIVE Questions: With Naz Long's head coach

Is Tony McIntire the father of Tyler Ennis? If so, did you get any inside scoop from Tony as to how we're standing with the recruitment of his son? Thanks.

Re: FIVE Questions: With Naz Long's head coach

I am still baffled by this move. I certainly see the need for a PG coming up in 2013 and how it's a good idea to get him into the program now. But the scholarship thing for 2012 leaves me scratching my head. There must be something in the works behind the scenes. What that is, I don't want to hypothesize.

With that said, I hope Long has a great career.

So Tony McIntire is Tyler & Dylan Ennis father? I did not know that. Maybe you should have queried him if we are still involved with Ennis and their level of interest?

The single comment at the end of Chris's piece doesn't bode well. Hopefully Tavon will be around; I hadn't heard anything about him being gone until this.

Re: FIVE Questions: With Naz Long's head coach

    Wow. I like Coach Tony.

Sounds like our staff has a great relationship with him - which is great considering the talent that is associated with CIA Bounce every year.

I too had no idea that he is the father of Tyler Ennis. Should be interesting to see if we stop recruiting Ennis, or other 2013 PGs for that matter.

Oh, and I love everything that he said about Naz. Should be solid!

Don't read into me not tagging Sledge on the story. Somebody is over thinking things. Sledge was just mentioned in passing in the piece. The story was not about him so I didn't tag him. That's it.

Reading between the lines, Sledge is not going to be here, IMO. A last minute run at a PG tells you a lot about how Fred sees things playing out with him.

We've got one thread that gets redirected to the fact that this team will not live up to expectations because it lacks a point guard. Simultaneously we have another thread where multiple posters jump to the conclusion that a point guard we have will surely be gone simply because we recruit another one.

Either they are important to a team's success or they are not. If they are, you are going to need depth...

"There are five real good recruits in the state. We got three of them. One couldn’t get into school, and the other went to (the University of) Iowa...which is about the same thing." - Coach Johnny Orr

Re: FIVE Questions: With Naz Long's head coach

We wouldn't be speculating about a PG leaving if we hadn't just signed a PG with no scholarship available. I don't know what out-of-state tuition is these days but out-of-country has to be outlandish.

Re: FIVE Questions: With Naz Long's head coach

I think Sledge is an exciting player and I am looking forward to seeing what he can do. However, him leaving is a scenario that makes a lot of sense in regards to why they are bringing in Long. Like has been said many times on here, it's rare not to have some attrition and the transition from high school in NYC to college in Ames can't be an easy one.

so we have fans who think FH has "given up" on a freshman after 20 practices???? the kid hasn't even played one single game yet and he's already gone?

thank you gmac, for creating this warped, depressing cyclone basketball fan psyche.

I hope he isn't leaving but somebody will be. He's just a logical choice due to the position he plays.

It doesn't make sense (not that it has to)for somebody to leave before the end of the season no matter who it is so we've got months to enjoy them all...hopefully.

It doesn't make sense that someone would already know they are going to leave, before the season even starts, yet go ahead and play the season.
The whole thing doesnt make sense.
This oversigning and the rumors in the other thread have me quesy.
If we dont make the dance this year, disappointed isnt a strong enough word to describe what ill be feeling.
