    Q&A: With Jared Barnett

I've got a lot more on Barnett coming later in the week, but since here's a transcript from part of his Q&A with reporters from earlier today in Ames.

    Re: Q&A: With Jared Barnett

When I lived in Dallas, I ran into a couple of contacts who knew him. First I ran into I think his uncle if I remember the family connection right at a church event the spring he committed. He was expected the starting job for Jared for fall 2010. With Arnaud as a Senior, I said, "Ummm...no. I don't think so. I know you think ISU is bad, but he's not getting that starting gig next year."

Then last fall I ran into one of his HS friends at a Raising Cane's restaurant. She recognized the ISU polo I had on and told me about Jared. Said he was a super nice guy in high school.

I was just impressed that a few people had heard of Iowa State in Dallas, even if it was only because of Jared. Before we beat the Longhorns last year, seems like most people didn't know the difference between Iowa State and Illinois State. Pretty sad right in the middle of B12 country.
