    Jantz Interception

Anyone see the replay? Looks like Lenz explicably hestitated on about his 4th step, just enough that he was a fraction behind the pass already enroute.

ON replay, this could have been a score.

Jantz has a lot of high risk high reward throws and this team is not talented enough to take advantage of it. Benching him is the right thing to do until he can do a better job picking his opportunities. You don't take high risk shots at the beginning of the football game.

Jantz sailed it as well. Needed to be lower. But if Josh catches it in stride, it's a big play.

I thought Jantz didn't put enough weight on his plant foot (his injured one), thus the throw was way high. Perhaps Lenz was a tad late in his route, but the throw wasn't good either. Like a pitcher in baseball, if the QB can't go entirely over his plant foot, the throw will be high. If a pitcher not going over his plant foot does manage to get the pitch down in the strike zone, it turns into BP for the hitter. Likewise if a QB doing the same thing manages to get the ball down, it usually results in an in-completion or interception. If you looked at all of Jantz's throws, they were all high, that's why I'm saying he wasn't putting enough weight on his plant foot which says to me that his foot injury is bothering him more than he and the coaching staff are willing to admit. Jantz needs to sit out the season to allow his foot to fully heal. These types of injuries heal slowly. Barnett is the man now.

    Re: Jantz Interception

Jantz is either still hurt, or this is the result of playing hurt and now it's in his head. He will get another chance. There is a lot of football to be played. He has a terrific arm, but a bad foot will hurt that.

That was not a high risk shot.

    Re: Jantz Interception

The healthy QB needs to play IMO. Steele has a very good arm, but if he cannot run our Offense can't function and becomes more predictable than it already is.

    Re: Jantz Interception

Is the injury to his left foot? I forget, but an injury to the left foot of a right handed QB would cause some balls to sail as he won't shift his weight forward correctly. I agree with him sitting and getting healthy and then we can worry about a QB controversy if JB continues to play well.

Jantz looked awful throwing the ball, like "something might be wrong with him" awful.

Just watched it as well, if Lenz keeps running he would have had a huge play.

It has looked like there was something wrong with his arm since the end of the Iowa game. He was making some outstanding high velocity throws in the first two games that he hasn't made since. Arm strength, along with accuracy, have been two of his many issues.
