    Re: Naz Long now official

So let me get this straight -

His academic eligibility has not yet been cleared, but he has signed the financial aid agreement, which is what Niang, Okoro, and SDW will sign in the Nov signing period, correct?

If so, why can he sign early? Is it because he is intending to join at the semester break?

A fianancial aid agreement is different than a LOI.

Ah yes, and he has signed the financial aid agreement now, since he is planning to join at semester. Got it. Thanks.

    Re: Naz Long now official

When is he eligible to start in an ISU uni? 12-13 season I would assume?

I went to college thinking I wanted a career; turns out I just wanted paychecks.

He'll be on the team for Spring semester, and could play, but he said he won't play this year.

    Re: Naz Long now official

Naz seems (almost) as enthusiastic as Georges. I wonder how good at baking cookies his mom is...

It's nice to see recruits so enthusiastic they seem to be unable to wait to get on campus. It makes me hopeful that we won't see regular defections of players (who are seeing playing time!) under Freddy.

"There are five real good recruits in the state. We got three of them. One couldn’t get into school, and the other went to (the University of) Iowa...which is about the same thing." - Coach Johnny Orr

    Re: Naz Long now official

Okay, so now that it's official, would someone compare his ballhandling to, say, Jamaal Tinsley?

And it would be nice to see some video footage that was more recent than 2010...

    Paul Rhoads' players never quit.
    (They just disappear offseason)

He's not as good at ball handling as Jamaal.

Insert above comment for every PG that ISU recruiits for the next 20 years.

It feels good to have a recruit

1.) commit before they take other planned visits, in this case Dayton
2.) commit while on their visit.

    Re: Naz Long now official

Some clarification that I've dug up today.

Here's the deal. Because of the fact that Long plans on being on campus this January, IF that happens, he'd technically be a member of last year's recruiting class, not 2012. That's why he is allowed to sign the financial aid agreement now and the 2012 prospects cannot.

    Make sense?

We appreciate the explanation. It's kinda been a confusing situation. What determines if he comes or not in the spring? Shouldn't he know 2 months beforehand what his plans are?

He is finishing up one high school class right now in Canada. Assuming that he passes it, he'll be on campus in January.

Also one last thing. I know that the plan isn't for him to play this year IF he comes at semester. But say hypothetically Sledge gets hurt and we are having major point guard issues. What would be the first official game that he could play in?

    Re: Naz Long now official

Does anyone have his stats from last year at Findlay Prep? The school website has some information, but not individual stats. The website -- Findlay Prep Basketball -- does tell us that he didn't lead the team in any statistical category, but then again they had a PG who was a McDonald's all american.
