    What are your expectations?

I see all of this "blah blah blah" about Paul Rhoads "not being a good fit for ISU", or "not meeting expectations." It can get me furious sometimes. He is passionate about ISU football, and i don't think there is a better fit for a coach right now.

What really are your expectations for a coach in our football program?

Honestly, with the talent and players that we are able to get here at Iowa State, i think 5 to 7 wins a season is about what to expect being in this offensive juggernaut conference. Will we win 5 games this year? I'm not so sure, but our schedule is beefed.

People are wanting Rhoads gone? Why? Who else could Iowa State get that would love ISU football?

I think 5 is still possible, so is 6, though not likely. At this point, they need to get over that magical 30 point barrier somehow. Defensive TD's, big runs, passes, field goals, safeties...somehow get over 30 points.

I've actually never seen or heard anyone say CPR was a bad fit or anything like that...

Love these posts. You won't find a coach that is a better fit and has more passion for this program than Rhoads. These past 4 weeks have been BEYOND frustrating. With the new conference scheduling the Big 12 picked a ****** time (for us) to be the best it's been in a long time.

    Re: What are your expectations?

Anyone who doesn't think Rhoads can get it done here at ISU is a fool.

Anyway, my expectations were to go to a bowl game this year.

Yes. People need to realize that 8 out of 10 Big 12 teams have been in the Top 25 at one point this year. And we will probably have 6 or 7 bowl eligible teams at the end of the season. Maybe even 8 if Mizzou really turns it around.

    Re: What are your expectations?

Honestly, I saw this season as a 3-5 win season from the start. This schedule is absolutely brutal.

    Re: What are your expectations?

I love Rhoads, and completely trust he will do everything he possibly can to get us a win each and every Saturday. If he is going to turn the program around it is going to take time, people need to realize this. It took MCarney 6 seasons to have a winning season here, Rhoads did it in his first. I'll stick with Rhoads, there really isn't a better option for us.

    Re: What are your expectations?

I am realizing that my expectations at the start of the season were pretty ridiculous in retrospect.

Rhoads is the guy. We will have a year soon where we surprise people. No doubt in my mind.

    Re: What are your expectations?

Realistic expectations have to be a bowl game each year, if you can't have that be an expectation than there is no use in playing. We have to be able to win 3 non-conference games each year, then pull off 3 wins in conference play. Of course it is not easy with the difficulty of the conference, but we need to be able to beat Kansas and then pull out wins against two others each year.

That said, it is going to take time to get everything worked out... There are not many coaches who can come in, especially at a low-end BCS conference team like Iowa State, and can turn it around in 3 years. It is probably going to take 5 years, but once we get past those 'setup year' I fully expect the best-scenario coach (which I hope CPR is) to get us bowling each and every year.

As tough as our schedule has been so far this year, it isn't getting any easier.

Exactly. I have a hard time thinking any coach will ever win more than 4-5 games per year consistently with a 9 game conference schedule.
