    ISU Victory Ceiling

Reading all the neagitive posts on this board might make one assume 9 and 10 win seasons are the rule at ISU. IMO some posters here need to get some perspective on the history of ISU football, and not be so quick to attack the current 3-4 season.

    Consider:
-ISU is the only current (or past) member of the Big 12 to have never recorded a 10 win season
-ISU is the only current (or past) member of the Big 12 to have never played in a "traditional" January Bowl game (Rose, Sugar, Cotton, Orange, Fiesta)
-ISU is the only current (or past) member of the SWC/Big 8/Big 12 to have never won a conference title while a member of SWC/Big 8/Big 12
-ISU has finished in the top 25 of the AP poll only once (2000) in the last 30 years.
-ISU has never completed in a BCS-level bowl game (even in years pre-dating the BCS)

With all the above taken into account, it becomes more clear just what a battle it is to win consistently at ISU.

Not to mention the fact that the only other Big 12 team we even probably have a chance at beating this year, KU, is 7-3 against ISU in the last 10 meetings.

We are up against it folks. Don't try to sugarcoat it. We are the northern-most team in a Texas heavy league. Texas kids would actually probably rather go to KU than ISU, since it's a lot closer to home for them. We have a LOT of built in disadvantages.

We are the Los Angeles Clippers of the NBA, or the Kansas City Royals of MLB. The Royals aren't going to win most of the time when they play the Yankees. It's just a fact of life. Yes it can happen from time to time, but never consistently.

Why shouldn't that be the rule? Why settle for mediocrity and hope for 6 wins at best just so we can hope to make a low-tier bowl?
