Sick of IA vs ISU being our superbowl....

On another thread it referenced a Wisconsin blog that some jacka@& was insulting our program and us as fans. What i'm sick of hearing from every hawk fan is how this game is our superbowl....well from the looks of Kirk's resume (3-6) and his salary (3rd highest in Div. 1) he better start understanding that the cupcake that used to be ISU is no longer on their schedule. And speaking of their schedule, all i heard before ISU game was how Iowa was going to win the big ten because they didnt have to play Ohio St and Michigan, well i got news for them, they may have 4-5 losses in the big ten alone (Wisc, Penn St, Purdue, Mich St, Minn).

You know the ironic thing is how short Hawk fans memories are....just a couple years ago, Captain Kirk was going through two seasons in which they only won 4 games. I can understand them thinking they have a team that could contend for the big ten title when they go out and whip the likes of Syracuse and Northern Illinois (two of the worst Div. 1 teams) but then to get manhandled by a team physically, that was supposed to be an easy Iowa victory.

Iowa fans are in for a tough season imo, they have very good backs but in watching the game, they were consistantly having to cut back, great indicator that their line was not creating holes. If they cannot outmuscle ISU, they will lose those same battles against almost every big ten team. Running gets to be tough when you can't open the line of scrimmage and their passing game is brutal. Obviously losing three of their top four wide receivers for our game didnt help them, but they did have guys open to sustain drives and their 4star qb couldnt deliver the ball. It will be interesting to see his mindset after the Wisconsin game, i think this one will not be close....30-10.

ISU is developing a mindset and team around the future, its not a gotta win right now, its a mindset that here's how and what needs to be done to take us to the next level. Should that happen, i have a feeling the Iowa will drop us from the schedule, they can go out and play the likes of USC, Miami, Florida, Texas and make a lot more money and still get pounded.

Its funny how much Iowa fans complained about not being able to go to the game, well who really cares what Iowa fans think....do they really think if they played Nebraska or Norte Dame or a program like that they would get 20,000 tickets - NO WAY....But, its a slap in their Arrogant faces that they think they should be given that opportunity at our home games - screw them.....

Sorry for the rant, i'm just sick of hearing and seeing hawk fans that think they have a program thats consistantly in the top ten...They had a great run and i even cheered for them against USC, but those days are over. Norm Parkers defense is a bend dont break type of defense and in todays game you cannot give up the movement of the ball that easy.....His defense looked great against a Barney Cotton offense last year, but our new staff showed what coaching and adjustments were all about.....

IA fans, please whin to someone else, as a clone fan and a Cubs fan, i'm ready to be on the other end of the championship contender.....And ISU will be there.....

Go Clones, Go Cubs - 9 games left....

KMAC isn't a player or a member of the coaching staff, he's a fan. Ergo, he can think and post about how amazingly irritating Iowa fans are and how crazy they drive him. I agree with KMAC, they are a bunch of ***** hats.

If this isn't your superbowl, then quit talking about it like it is. Move on.

Most Iowa fans (the ones that can actually think) are looking ahead to Wisconsin - as ISU should be with Toledo.

Yes, fans complain, make fools of themselves - but starting a thread about a fool fan is.... foolish.

Not foolish. Just getting something off his chest. No biggie. That's what message boards are for. If you don't want to think about it or read it, then don't. Read other threads.

So when Iowa loses to Wisconsin, is it because its Wisconsin's Super Bowl and Iowa doesn't care because they are looking forward to the other Big 10 games besides Wisconsin?

Re: Sick of IA vs ISU being our superbowl....

Squawk fans are deluisional. They are not in touch with the world that the rest of us live in. When they were in elementary school, all the other kids wore Hawkeye jackets, so being the weak minded followers they are, they decided they should wear Hawkeye jackets too.

Soon they grew up and needed something to break up the long days and trips to Quik Trip for cartons of GPC Menthols. They decided the best thing to do was to talk themselves into thinking they were on the verge of a national championship every year. Then lowly Iowa State won 7 of the last 10 meetings between the schools, yet they are still convinced (along with a large number of other delusional people) that the Big 11 is the ultimate conference.

At the end of the day, they are average at best and have been for quite some time. They are members of an average conference that is now on the decline from average to poor.

Kirk better start treating EVERY game as Iowa's Superbowl because being the 3rd highest paid coach in college football and going .500 over the past 2 seasons doesn't go together very well.

Re: Sick of IA vs ISU being our superbowl....

SouthernHawk, i respect what your saying and quite a few times your the minority of Hawk fans and speak genuine and good points....

The reason i made the post was simple, according to most Iowa fans, the game against ISU is just another game, but, when they lose to ISU then they make it completely different and i'm still getting emails about how our team didnt look that good and how this or that had happened and Iowa wins the game......Well to me SH, thats just making excuses for not executing - period.

I hope that Iowa's looking at Wisconsin, that team is hungry and eager to put an entire game together.....watch out, it might get ugly....unlike our offense that stumbled and bogged down inside the 20, wisconsin will score td's thats what top 10 teams do....

I have a ton of hawk fans, and they all just shook their heads during that game, ISU's defense looked very good, but, it was their bowl game why shouldnt they be up for it....

Iowa fans have had great success over the past twenty years, Hayden Fry built a program from nothing....Somebody has to start the building process and i'm saying that Mean Gene is doing that in Ames.....Our programs are not equal - we all know that, but, we want to get to the level in which our team competes against the big boys and the only way to do that is develop the program the right way. Beating Iowa will helped the confidence of our team as much as questioned the confidence of the hawks going into Wisconsin. I don't want to hear nothing about looking ahead to Wisconsin, Iowa needed that win, wanted that win and your own players said it in the paper, they desperately wanted to win that game - and failed.....everything else is an excuse - PERIOD!!!!

    K

So, what do you call going to another team's board, either taking their quotes or talking about what they said, and then posting 10 times more threads about that subject than about the game your team plays tomorrow?

Maybe foolish was a bad choice of word - how about obsessive?

Agreed.... Its his opinion, its his rant, let him say what he wants. Why fire back at him. This is where you Southern need to back off of us and let us speak our minds without your "unbiased" comeback.

You don't need to respond to everything like this. Your not "saving the world" by any means.

Ok... Did Kmacc do that or anyone else on this thread??? NO!!!!!!!!!!! Bother the people who did that, and bother them on that thread. This is a person's opinion and he didn't reference HN or HR.

Not since Hayden Fry has any Iowa football coach been able to stand up straight for the sum of his annual coaching escapades.

"Coaches begin to bow lower from pressure - from the rabid fans, the sports pundits, the mingling, bandwagon politicians, the public, the media, and the squirrely professors. This has led to what some coaches normally refer to as an 'asymetrical response' from the resident football coaches. When the going is good, coaches are reluctant to tighten up on accolades and press releases. But when the going is not so good, they ease up quickly and sneak back into their confines of their field practice caves." - Beano the Ancient
