Big 12 Media Day - Mulkey Zinger

"I remember Texas A&M's president with these quotes: 'It's like a marriage. If it's over, it's over,'" Mulkey said of the Aggies' decision to exit the Big 12, mostly due to being intensely sick of the Texas Longhorns. "Who wants a relationship that's over and has no value for you? Basically, he's talking about a divorce. And I know a little bit about a divorce.

"My feeling is this: If a man wants to divorce me and says our relationship has no value to him, and then asks me if he can sleep with me, the answer is, 'No!'"

I think this says it best.
Actually, Kansas coach Bonnie Henrickson, whose school now faces the potential loss of historic rival Missouri, put it even more bluntly and correctly.

"It's about TV and football and ego," Henrickson said. "And I'm not sure ego is third."
I can only imagine what Coach Fennelly would have said had he been there.

Who has a larger ego: Mizzou, TAMmy, or Nebby? I assume CU could not win an ego contest as they can barely pay their bills.

The article also has BF placing Nikki in first place among PGs. Sounds like she is holding her own.

I am starting to get a good feeling that we have something special in Nikki.

BF stole Nikki out from under the noses of the Texas coaches, because she was in Texas with the plethora of talent, she was overlooked. Most anticipated match up for me this year is Moody vs. Logic, as Sam is starting for Iowa.

Iowa State women's basketball: Missouri's possible move fails to rattle Big 12 | The Des Moines Register | DesMoinesRegister.com

    Preseason Coaches' Poll

    1. Baylor; 2. Texas A&M; 3. Texas; 4. Oklahoma; 5. Iowa State; 6. Texas Tech; 7. Kansas; 8. Oklahoma State; 9. Kansas State; 10. Missouri

For Iowa State players Hallie Christofferson and Chelsea Poppens, the conference shuffle is a secondary concern.

Cyclones coach Bill Fennelly announced earlier this month he would undergo treatment for cancer on his vocal cords.

“He still talks,” Christofferson said with a grin. “He still yells. He uses a microphone and gets everybody going.”

The most notable on-court adjustment for Iowa State takes place at point guard.

Lauren Mansfield, who spent 10 days in her native Australia to attend a wedding, is making a switch to shooting guard.

Nikki Moody, a freshman from Euless, Texas, will direct the offense.

“She’s doing pretty good, for us just throwing her out there,” Poppens said. “Her play is different form point guards we’ve had previously.

“She’s not afraid to pass it into the post. That’s always good for us.”

The 6-foot-2 Poppens took a wait-and-see approach to realignment.

“I kind of just put it off to the side,” she said, “because it’s obviously not going to be taken care of in a short time.”

    Christofferson also expressed uncertainty.

“That’s always going to be a question, now,” she said. “Just because we’ve had changes in the past.

“Everybody is always going to be wondering what’s going to happen.”

This comment about Nikki, I like:

“She’s not afraid to pass it into the post. That’s always good for us.”

“We’ve got a pretty good football conference, and we’ve got a pretty good conference overall. We’re still walking around with our heads held high and our chest out, about that.” Paul Rhoads
