    Nebraska

Anyone going and staying in Lincoln for the game? I'm looking at going Friday and coming back after the game. Looking for some ideas on places to stay that are close to the stadium.

Since I'm not familiar with where the Stadium is located, is it close to the Business District? I just remember some bars being close by.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Stay in Omaha. Lincoln is no fun except inside Memorial Stadium.

    Re: Nebraska

cornhusker inn is a very nice hotel within walking distance of the stadium and the bar scene. pretty pricey however. i will be in lincoln staying with a friend. she is going to show us how kNu tailgates...i already told her to not be offended when we laugh. there are some good gameday bars that we will hit up...not sure of their names but i can get back to you if you want more details. i used to date a girl in lincoln for 3 years so im pretty familiar with the city.

    Re: Nebraska

All of this is recollection from when my sister went to school there in the mid to late 90's.

The stadium is right on cornhusker highway coming into town - unless there's been alot of growth there since the late 90's, it's pretty much the first thing once you hit town. And unless I'm not recalling right, the school is somewhat separate from the downtown area, not unlike Ames. There were a ton of bars within walking distance of Memorial Stadium. And I agree with the others, unless you figure you can't drive that night, stay in Omaha.

    Re: Nebraska

dont take cornhusker hwy...take I-80 exit 401 (which is I-180) south. that will lead you right to the stadium. i wouldnt do this saturday, but friday night when you get into town it will lead you right there and you can get a feel for where to park, tailgate, etc.

Thanks for all your help!! Depending on how we do this weekend, if you see a yellow shirt with ISU Logo on the front, and "The New Big Red" on the back, it's me!

    Re: Nebraska

There is a courtyard by marriot close to the stadium that is very nice (with great bars close by, check out the "Barrymore") but I would guess that it is already full...

    Re: Nebraska

Yeah, after looking at the map you're right. Don't take CHH. And holy cow that town has grown.

There used to be a number of bars SE of the stadium on P & Q streets, on the west of I-180/ 10th st. And if memory serves, O st running east is pretty much the main drag around campus and has (had) alot going on.

    Re: Nebraska

We live in Lincoln and are going to the game with Iowa relatives. They will stay with us. Motels are generally booked well in advance for home-game weekends. I just heard that the game will be in the afternoon, 1:05, so a trip to and from Omaha can be made without cutting into party time. Allow time for heavy traffic.

no doubt, not like I'm going to pimp steamed vegetables on a sports fan forum, but man even those are good there! you really can't go wrong.

    Re: Nebraska

Arrive early as it is slow entering the 1920s stadium. Butt seats were sized for the 1920s also, so you may be sitting in the aisle, so stock up with food and hit the restrooms before you take your seat.
