Paul Doerrfeld new color analyst for CTN games

I did a search and didn't see this anywhere, but I think it's a great move to give a former Cyclone a chance. Even if it doesn't work out, I'd rather give a new guy a crack at the job than listen to the dude that did the games last year. The guy made such an impression that I can't even remember his name.

"Day after day, situation after situation you do things the right way. If you do things the right way, in life, you are going to be successful. I'm not just your football coach; I'm not just here to win games. I could not be prouder of who we are and who we are becoming, together. You do things right in the classroom, off and on the field; that's whats's makes us Cyclones and that's what our culture's all about."

Wow, I haven't heard that name in ages and didn't even know he was a journalist. Doesn't matter though, I'm always ready for an ISU Alumni to step up. Welcome Paul, I hope you do great !

Re: Paul Doerrfeld new color analyst for CTN games

Does anyone remember what years Doerrfeld played for ISU? I almost want to say that CFH was a freshman when Doerrfeld was a senior, but I might be a couple of years off.

To be honest, I had completely forgotten about Paul Doerrfeld until this thread. I hope he excels at his new job.

All I remember is Doerrfeld could take a charge and fake flop with the best of them.

If I remember correctly he also recieved a hardship redshirt for medical reasons so he was there for 6 years.

He's really not a journalist. He actually owns his own marketing apparel company.

He has done some color for radio stations during high school boys and girls state tournaments but I think this will be his first time doing it on TV. Doerf should do a great job.

I think he said he gets 12 CTN games and will be filling in for Heft on the radio for the Michigan game and the tourney down in S. Padre as Walters and Heft will be with the football team.

Kevin Lehman. I think I remember Mrs. Velo telling me that he was a former teacher and coach at Dowling.

Doerrfeld is one guy that will appreciate Royce's strength. Doerrfeld held a lot of Cyclone BB records in the weight room for a long time if I remember correctly.

They might not have emphasized it, maybe that is why he might have records that stood for a while. I distinctly remember a picture in the old media guides of Paul lifting in the weight room.

I don't know about Doerrfeld's strenght or how much lifting weights was ephasized but I do have a season recap video from the 1985-86 season that shows them strength training and talks about it.

Re: Paul Doerrfeld new color analyst for CTN games

Doerrfeld was the head coach at DM Roosevelt for a few seasons. I didn't mind Lehman as he clearly was an ISU homer, but Doerrfeld should bring a little more substance to the analysis. I still prefer the Walters/Thompson combo from a few years back.
