    Angry E-mail of the Week

Iowa? No mention of Iowa in the Big Ten section? Your writing has no integrity if you ignore a team that crushed a team in a conference ranked ahead of the Big 10 (Syracuse, Big East) and that plays another team on Saturday that is in a conference that is ranked ahead of the Big 10 (Iowa State, Big 12). Lazy reporting is not enjoyable to read.
    --Jake, Chicago

I did not hear from Jake following Iowa's 15-13 loss to Iowa State.

Hilarious, Jake from Chicago? Isnt Jake Christensen from Illinois, hmm. People in that state answer the "where are you from" question with "A suburb of Chicago" , its possible.

    Iowa fans are so smug.

I was getting gas in Des Moines on Saturday morning before the game. Some guy in an old beater pulls in the station to get gas as well. I had my ISU sweatshirt on. As a typical Hawk fan, he says "They never should have gotten rid of McCartney (spelled the way he said it). The players in Ames have lost their heart. The Hawks will have it easy today." I started to argue and thought what is the point when he doesn't even know the name of our previous coach.

Herbstreit Game Day will be at Alabama game Saturday. Then he hops the plane to madison to watch the Iowa game that night. He must be a homer. He called the Iowa loss an embarrassment to the Hawkeyes. Guess he did not watch that game. I thought the better team won. The scoreboard agrees with me.

That's not homeristic at all. The better team definitely won but it was still an embarrassment to the Hawkeyes. We were widely recognized as the worst BCS team in the nation, 17 point dogs, and we took it to a team that was "expected" by the national media to compete for a Big 10 championship. Of course they're embarrased - why do you think they're coming up with every obscure excuse in the book? I'd say they're creating some new excuses as well, but that compliments them on their creativity and I refuse to give them that much credit.

    Jake from Chicago...PRICELESS!

Decent thought process on the rankings...has Big 10 nailed. I disagree with putting the SEC behind the Pac 10...time will tell on that.

Bottom line is that there are 4 ultra elite teams this year (it appears at this point)...SC, LSU, Florida, and OU. 2 of those teams are in the SEC...what does that tell you!

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.

Wink Re: CNN Conference Power Rankings

West Virginia is #5 with their backfield and speed.

May be more difference this year than in past ten years between

    the Haves

    and Have Nots

    (for the Top 5

and the rest of the pack).

Again, as stated previously, the qb makes a huge difference how well a team plays. You either have a Carson Palmer or you have Damon Huard. Looks like Okie has a qb. If Bret would go to the next level as a senior, we would get much better faster.
