    Hawkeyees - DM Register

Did you all see the write up in today's Register on IA WBB. A lot of talk on their freshman class. What stood out to me was mention of their 2 week trip to Europe but only played 3 games. How is this justified?

We all know the scam . . . but hey, typical Iowa . . all you can do is shake your head.

This is exactly the reason why the NCAA President's Commission voted unanimously to eliminate all foreign tours. They are basically paid vacations for the teams. Most coaches say the only real benefit is the practice time they have before the trips.

I suspect there is also a reward, a bonding/team building opportunity, some recruiting attraction to offer a highschool kid two weeks abroad; and, an all expense paid reward for staff.

The Iowa women should be a top 20 team this year. Loaded from top to bottom. All comes down to whether Bluder can coach them or not.

Apart from her rebounding, Alexander was a charismatic leader that made everyone around her better; before her time Iowa often looked unmotivated. Iowa will need an on-floor leader to step up, IMHO.

    Right you are, Ken.

    Worst. Idea. Ever.

The athletes, student trainers and mangers only work the full-time job of sports only to have to go to classes after that for most months out of the year.
