Info re: Collin Bevins Iowa visit

    Notes from HawkeyeReport.com . . . | TheGazette

Another notable unofficial visitor this weekend is Collin Bevins, a 6-5, 240-pound offensive lineman/tight end prospect from Creston. The prep standout committed to Iowa State in August, but recently picked up a scholarship offer from Iowa and will take a look at the Hawkeyes. He hasnít officially opened up his recruitment, but the Iowa coaches hope this weekend will move him closer to do just that.

Visiting another school IS opening up your recruitment. It really is that simple.

Agree...this is definitely some level of interest on Collin's part or he wouldn't take the visit. He already knows all about Iowa football...this one might end up going against us.

I don't disagree with what you are saying, but I thought it was interesting that it is an unofficial visit, and that a Hawkeye biased article included that statement.

    Unofficial is really interesting.
Could be as little as wants to see a game or could be poaching on the cheap.

A 100% Cyclone would not go to the Iowa-NW even if it's free.

I'm not finding fault with what he's doing. Just saying what it is.

Well than Charles Rogers isn't 100% official either. He's taking an unofficial visit to Iowa. Until he takes an official I'm not worried. He's going to go see a free college football game and see what IC's all about

The only difference between an official visit and an unofficial visit is when a recruit takes an unofficial visit he is paying his own way and paying for his own meals and lodging. Otherwise once on campus the coaches and recruit have the same access to each other as if it were an official visit.

I probably wouldn't be worried about Rogers anyway, but I don't understand why it would have to an official visit to get you worried when he already lives in IC anyway.

    This right here.

You're playing football as a HS Senior & enjoying a successful last season, and you have the chance to go watch a D-1 game when the weather couldn't be better for football.

Nah, if it were me, I would not go.

The point is that these guys will be there...is the Iowa staff going to ignore them because all they want is to watch a free game? Nope...if Iowa wants them they will be selling them on everything that Iowa has to offer! All it takes is for one strong connection to be made and then the kids starts to rethink their situation. Happens all the time. A commitment doesn't really mean anything in recruiting...

I realize this. But IMO these kids are always offered free tickets to college games when they are a good HS player. ISU is on the road this week so him going to an Iowa game on an unofficial isn't a big surprise. Would I rather he not? Of course. Does it show that he might be considering Iowa? Perhaps. I guess I'm just not to worried at this point. Could be wrong

Just thought I'd let you know that we actually agree on something. For the record.

If I have learned one thing, you don't compete for the Big 12 title with players from Iowa. And I was one of them so I have a hard time saying that. Minus Knott, there is no starter on our team from Iowa that would play elsewhere.

Maybe he is just trying to appease his parents. Aren't they big Hawk fans and he grew up a Cyclone fan? So maybe the parents want to see the game and are using their son as a vehicle to do just that.
